This is a work for unaccompanied women's voices, setting 5 short texts by e.e. cummings, collectively entitled 'Impressions'. The whole piece is a kind of palindrome and I think it works well just as a vocalise.

Synthwave Into Eternity

I wrote this song in 2022 and it's about young lovers and how they sometimes rush into things. I think I watched a film that triggered this feeling of lost love due to youth, I'm not sure but Charlie sang it very well. It has an interesting lyric rhyming scheme and of course I wrote the lyrics first. There's a nice Spanish guitar in the lead portion of the song. I wrote it with Elvis in mind for the vocals! WHY CAN’T WE TURN BACK TIME?
RETRACE THE STEPS, ERASE THE MIND,
NO BROKEN HEARTS OR NERVOUS LAUGHS,  
ALL SHATTERED DREAMS NOW PAST,                 

IF WE COULD ONLY TURN BACK TIME,
WOULD WE DO THE RIGHT THINGS, REFRAME THE LINES?
AVOID THE PAIN THAT YOUNG LOVE BRINGS? 
KNOWING IT WOULD NEVER LAST,

THERE WILL BE NONE OF THAT,
NO REGRETS, NO TURNING BACK,
NO FORGIVING THE HURTFUL FACTS,  
THE CARELESS WORDS, THE CRUEL ACTS,
IT WOULD NEVER BE A LOVE SUBLIME,
IF WE COULD TURN BACK TIME,
     
SHOULD WE DARE TO TURN BACK TIME?
REKINDLE MEMORIES LONG LEFT BEHIND,      
BRING BACK THE LOVE THAT WE ONCE HAD,       
OR CHOOSE ANOTHER PATH?

As the track title and image suggest, "Rebel" is a sonic homage to the world of Star Wars and a sequel of sorts to my prior Star Wars themed epic orchestral track "The Dark Side". A rousing, energetic kaleidoscope of bombastic brass and operatic vocals, this track is meant to pull the listener into an epic planetary battle between the cosmic forces of good and evil. May the force be with you as you enjoy this journey with a good pair of headphones!
