Ladies and gentlemen, let me present to you my remix for Amon Tobin.

Anyone who knows Amon Tobin knows he's fucking insane with his drums – and with his everything. One of the true electronic masterminds of our time. And anyone who knows me knows I'm into drums. I think that's the reason why I've always been drawn into his music so much: he's constantly re-inventing himself, even with his beats. I suppose that's what we both have always been into.
We connected for the first time when Amon was asking me for some of my early releases for DJ use, and that blew me away. Years later, I was honored for being asked to do a remix of Journeyman for the massive box set on Ninja Tune, and some time after that, I was listening to Stunt Rhythms, and the thought hit me again that I'd love to go in on one of those tunes. I was working on my now soon-to-be-released FatGyver hip hop works in early 2013 and asked Amon if I could do a hip hop remix of 101 South. I got the samples, but for some reason, that remix never really picked up, but I kept the samples. This summer, I went to the countryside, and the weather was just being pretty bad. The inspiration can really hit you when you're in the nature, so I wrote this one in a few good sittings.


Getting to remix one of your musical heroes is a massive honor. I’m grateful to Amon and Ninja Tune for the opportunity – and all the inspiration they’ve provided me with. I’m not very good with words, so I’ll just let the music do the rest of the talking.

Colorhythm returns to Modern Ruin with a darker take on his unique sound.

A no-nonsense start to the release with 'Lavina' takes us into a different
side to Colorhythm's production - a gritty and techy roller switching seamlessly
between halftime and triplet grooves.

Title track 'Fission' starts off with a deliberate intro sequence that funnels into
what might be the footwork soundtrack of a nuclear reactor. Percussion is the
standout as Colorhythm plays with shakers, hats and almost breakbeat sounds
to create a cloudy and moody soundscape.

'Bionic' is the no-holds-barred successor to 'Fission'. Growling synthesizers
amidst tension inducing melodic progressions make for a compelling antithesis
to the title track. 

Another Modern Ruin favourite, Stayhigh, rounds up this release with a remix 
of 'Bionic'. Chopped vocals and typical footwork triplets smartly intertwine
with the initial groove and vibe of 'Bionic' while emphasizing the urgent and
frantic nature of footwork, creating a pleasing sonic crescendo.

Med School proudly present the fascinating sounds of A.Fruit! Her ‘Obsession’ EP is loaded with a hybrid of dark moody sonics and curious grooves in a 160BPM body, that draws from the realms of jungle, juke, future bass, techno, halftime and beyond. The 5-track EP follows the Russian producer’s previous releases on Med School’s ‘New Blood’ series, Teklife, Hyperboloid, Sequel One Records and Black Marble Collective.

Opening track ‘Please, Arrive’ is a seamless stepper that boasts elements of epic electronica with a classic D+B kick. ‘Bright Spot’ is a futuristic, tight-knit jungle and juke mix, layered with a serene female vocal chop-up - a true treat for foot-workers everywhere.

A.Fruit displays the darker side of her musical finesse with ‘Music Lasts Forever’, a majestic head-nodder loaded with scattered drums that runs parallel with title track, ‘Obsession’. As for the final track? It’s her ‘Secret Trick’ of 160 and 130BPM fusion!

A.Fruit’s obsession for experimental bass music is her self-proclaimed ‘professional disease’ that already spans over a decade, following her degree in professional engineering and childhood love of songwriting. Outside of producing 160 beats, she creates sounds and music for a variety of PC games, worked in TV as a sound tech and provides digital mastering in her own home studio. Her eclectic DJ sets draw from her love of Exit Records, Astrophonica, Hyperdub, Planet Mu, Cosmic Bridge and many more.
