This is the first piece that I’ve ever labored over; prior finished works were improvisations. I sequenced eclectic passages to form an admittedly stilted story with a beginning, middle, and end. The intent is to disrupt contemporary notions of form and flow. Future compositions will likely be fairly different from this one, as it sets the bar high but for disproportionate effort. Coincidentally, this was composed in the aftermath of the terrible arson that killed many at Kyoto Animation Studio, which is why I incorporated a melody by Evan Call from a Kyoto Animation original soundtrack.
