Berlin-based Australian artist Kristin Velvet debuts on Ovum with two standout cuts backed with a remix from label boss Josh Wink. Velvet has lived, promoted, partied, DJed and produced around the world. These days, Kristin is shaping the Berlin scene with her work at Arms & Legs Records and as resident DJ at Watergate. She brings an interesting array of inﬂuences to her music which is rooted in heavy house and techno grooves with smart hooks. 'Riigs & Skenna’s new EP takes them into the darker world of atmospheric dub - a sound they love and close to the heartbeat of the label. 

The title track 'Luna Dub' is built around an evolving analog bass sound, which came straight from the artists’ hardware synths.  Soft pads and an urgent arp bring the energy of the track as it opens up.  Play this one in the dark!

'White Summer' is a more ambient, atmospheric tune with lush pads, haunting vocals and a distant, repeating piano line.  One for the end of a set or a sunrise. 

'Moral Hazard' closes the EP with an acid-tinged but chilled dub tune built around a lead line supported by dreamy chords and glitchy percussion.  

This is an EP for late nights in filled rooms or lying under the stars dreaming. '

'Desert Hearts Black label boss Marbs returns to the imprint with his latest release ‘Trip & Roll’, a driving and deep new cut paired with stellar remixes by Detroit legend DJ Minx and fellow West Coast producer SHADED. The 3-track EP arrives just in time to serve up heavy baselines on festival dancefloors this year. 

As a Founder of the Desert Hearts brand known for its flagship annual festival for over 10 years running, world-renowned parties, and two record labels, Marbs has proven to be a longstanding pillar of the American dance music scene. His productions weave intricate percussive patterns with hypnotizing and emotional psychedelia. 

‘Trip & Roll’ is wonky and weird in the best ways. Aimed at the heads-down-and-groove late floors, it breathes its own off-kilter charm from the very first bar. Sparse percussion and clever drum placement open the track before pads energize into the break. A film-like vocal completes the trip and sends you into an otherworldly state. 

Dj Minx’s remix showcases her unique style with a stripped-back dubby angle, layering the original track’s motifs with her techno-focused touch. Finally, celebrated techno artist SHADED adds his signature feel on the EP - a more melodic flavour that will suit that pre-peak moment before the dancefloor loses its mind.'
