Constantly in demand as a producer and remixer, Mauro Di Martino AKA Musumeci’s career dates back to the late 80’s under various aliases. Armada, Bedrock, Diynamic Music and Innervisions are just a few of the labels that the Sicilian artist has released on as Musumeci over the years. On top of this, Musumeci is the owner of Engrave Ltd, Multinotes Recordings & Buttress Records.

Musumeci’s latest work comes to us via the iconic UK imprint, Renaissance Records, as he partners alongside Salento born Dodi Palese to remix for Fur Coat’s ‘Dystopia EP’ (released 12th November). Together, Musumeci and Dodi Palese reimagine the EP’s title track in their unique indie style. Speaking on their remix, the pair explained how they were “instantly drawn to ‘Dystopia’s’ infectious riff and specifically wanted to celebrate that element”.

To mark the release of Fur Coat's 'Dystopia EP' on Renaissance Records, we invited Musumeci to the True Underground podcast series.

With 'Gaia' we welcome Ätherisch for his long-awaited debut on ICONYC Noir. Aätherisch delivers a slice of warm, pulsating club vibes. The track kicks things off nicely with its melancholic moodiness shining through as we meander effortlessly through club inspired melodies, while the sultry bassline sits wonderfully on top, adding an extra layer of depth and class. 'Gaia' means business and it is evident with every step of the way. Essential stuff!

On remix duty we are very excited to welcome Astral Base who also marks his debut on the label with a classy remix for the ages. The Russian producer who is known for his deep melodic progressive influenced sounds, keeps the ethereal theme of the original alive. It's all about the groove, cool house vibes and the deep driving beats that are working their magic around Astral Base's wonderfully arranged keys and the wonderful use of elements on offer. Astral Base once again has reminded us with his classy rework why we are so fond of him.

Next up we welcome Evegrem to the label with a gem of a remix. His purely deep progressive rework grabs you from the word go. Interspersing filtered stabs and a stunning groove which beautifully leads into a drop full of tension and excitement are the name of the game. The understated yet driving bassline powers the groove along, as Evegrem keeps the energy up, allowing the driving melodic house feel to shine thru over the many layers and textures to create a beautiful soundscape to round off this classy underground crowd pleaser.

The A side kicks off with a couple of hot jams by Monsieur Van Pratt, such as the sexy boogie-down vibe of 'Groove In Your Soul' (with Maicol Mayers) followed by 'The Speech' (also featuring Maicol Mayers) which ventures into sexy low-slung territory for the late night.
