‭ Niqi, also known as Niki Bakhtiyar, is a DJ, producer, and Qanun player originally from Iran,‬ currently based in Boston.‭ Niqi’s musical journey began in childhood with the Qanun and classical piano. Her passion for‬ music led her to pursue formal education, attending both a music high school and college in‬ Iran. During this time, she developed a deep interest in electronic music, which opened the door‬ to further exploration of the genre.‬
‭ Currently, Niqi is studying Electronic Music Production and Design at Berklee College of Music‬ and is also a resident artist at infraBoston.‬

Coda of Summer 

Impossibility of grasping last rays of departing summer
seeping through cracks in the curtains through the amber light,
wresting moral exhaustion of too bright, too intense, too harsh,
pushing it through the floor of inertia. 
Longing for rest.
Through the walls of detachment from what has never been 
into roots, 
into the soft fertile soil of anticipation 
of next bearing of young 
tendrils are tender spirals of what have been dreamt of.
Seasons on the cusp bringing forward force and yet
burden of potential still lingers quietly somewhere as a chest full of unopened letters,
full with stagnation. 
Through one long stretch of contemplation.
Longing for less.
Last summer whisper hanging on in a dust of sunset. 

With the 13th edition of our mix series Emsho walks us through a meandering path between genres and thus between seasons as we shift from summer to autumn. Alongside it, a written fragment by mayilovesummer echoes her selection. 

Emsho is an Iranian-born DJ/producer based in Brooklyn. Born and raised in Iran, she emerged from the underground before setting sail for NYC, where she found her calling in vinyl collecting while frequenting the various haunts which make up the vibrant Brooklyn underground music landscape. Emsho showcases a variation of styles and rhythms with Latin and UK influences, delivering a dynamic and immersive listening experience. She hosts Crew Cuts parties in NYC, and has released tracks with Domesticated and Apranik records.

We are delighted to present to you the very first Vinyl release of an in-house discovery, Rethe debut. It’s a breeze of fresh air of dynamics and Ideas, his debut shows how techno can be technical and functional, but at the same time impactful and filled with emotions. Petals contains 6 tracks, making this a mini LP, but we want to call this a full-length work engineered for DJs, each cut is studied to the core and created to be as functional as possible yet emotional. The record is already supported by Ben Klock, Stranger, and many other key players.
