Here is the first of a very special EP coming out on Compulzion to mark our 30th release. I have asked some of my favourite up and coming techno artists to provide a track for me and I have been championing material by this duo for quite some time. THiN consists of the DJ and production skills of Lars Tindal and his co-producer Rob Fabrie. I shouldn't have to explain any more about the duo as their history alone in many genres is implanted all over Holland and left a very permanent mark in Europe. Lars's recent deeper techno sounds THiN have been truly influential and here on 'Abrasion' the duo pull no punches with an out and out monster of a track that builds and builds before launching into some of those wicked Detroit chords and a seriously punchy and deep kick.

CMZ 030 - THiN - Abrasion

Well it's been a while since the wicked Short Circuit by Jim Justice, but here we are with release number three, and this time it's by long time label hero Liam Howells. The welsh wunderkind needs no introduction as both his own name and Projekt Tek aliases have been smashing the world for years with some high quality releases left right and centre! 

This particular track has been tearing up dancefloors all over Europe with many big name DJs and label favourites such as Uberdruck, myself and Jake Nicholls all caining it to name but a few! Taking all the glorious elements of hard trance and fusing it with some seriously chaotic techno percussion, this is ridiculously emotive and driving and still packs a modern punch with a hint to those golden tracks of yesterday!

Here we are with our 27th release, following on from the excellent 'The Lost Forgotten + Disregarded' album by Luke McMillan which has been picking up some rave reviews! Now we are treated two a rip roaring EP from Holland's very own Robin Swartz, who delivers two punky, aggressive but driving grooves in the form of 'Nameless Bitch' and 'Too Funky'. Both are set for the big rooms, the festivals and the peak time radio sets! For those who find the original mixes a little headstrong, there is a deep, dark and clanking mix from Phil Denton, a man who needs no introduction with some awesome productions being played worldwide! He takes the original of 'Nameless Bitch' and twists it up nicely!

And here we kick start the hard imprint of Compulzion with a remix of one of the labels best sellers.    15 Volts was played by many DJs across the globe from Scot Project to A*S*Y*S and many many more and Mark EG has been known to open many a set with it.

Who better to remix than to keep things local with the wicked Side E-Fect who takes the original and gives it a dark and deep reworking with a monster of a kick, keeping the techno influences and vibe! 

This will be released in June and also forthcoming is remix of Louk's - Signal Loss from a harder legend.

Here we are following on from Side E-Fect's wicked mix of Louk + Busho - 15 Volts with release number two on Compulzion hard, this time from Dutch hero Jim Justice. 

Now let's be fair, this man is pretty much smashing it globally at the moment with some supercharged tech and hard trance belters and his ability to switch between techno and hard trance and produce it with such finesse has lead to a multitude of wicked bookings including Defqon 1, Qountdown and IHDS. 

On Short Circuit he goes straight for the dark and dirty techno floors with a track that sounds like it could have been released on the almighty BXR records, with such drive and destruction and pure headf**kery this is definitely something that should crossover for quite a few of you and was a fitting second release on the Compulzion hard imprint.

Compulzion is a label set up by Louk and based in the South West of England. Compulzion aim to release rather dark trance and techno. Compulzion started life in September 2005 as a basis of promoting various record labels tracks to DJs, Press, Radio and potential licensees. This was followed in 2007 by the first Compulzion event which was an outdoor free party which took place in Devon. The decision to set up a record label came academically, as whilst studying for the final year of his degree, Louk decided for his final year project to set up a record label, which releases both on Vinyl, and digital (with all digital releases being sold three months after the Vinyl releases are on sale).

How Compulzion Works:

With the production of music becoming much more affordable than previously, there is a staggering amount of talent worldwide which is often overlooked by the bigger labels.  Most labels prefer to sign aritsts to make albums and singles for them over the contract term.  This creates an unnecessary tie with the artist.  Compulzion sign releases on a track by track basis.  You are free to take your next release elsewhere if you are not happy with what the label can do for you.  Compulzion even provides a detailed breakdown of expenses and all sales in a statement to the artist so you know where money has been spent and accrued for your release.  With the only criteria being that it has to fit the sound of the label and kick ass!
