His journey with techno began 20 years ago, leading him through the music industry, where he worked with DAWs, synths, and DJ equipment. After stepping away for some time, he reignited his passion three years ago, focusing on production and streaming DJ sets from his home studio—rediscovering the craft with a fresh perspective.

For this mix, comvert delivers a hypnotic and evolving sound, carefully constructed through precise 3-deck mixing. With floating rhythms and layered percussion, he builds an immersive atmosphere that draws the listener into a deep, meditative state while maintaining a strong, driving groove. Each transition adds a sense of movement and progression, making the set feel like a continuous flow of energy and intensity.

Fuelled by an endless fascination with sound in all its forms, OTON has spent over a decade navigating the vast spectrum of electronic music through producing, mastering, and DJing — with live performance at the heart of his explorations in all sorts of mental and hypnotic techno.

In 2021, he launched Alliance Club, initially as a platform to share his own music with a growing audience. Today, the project has evolved into an independent collective, party series and imprint, known for its integrity and support of alternative artists and scenes.
After veering away from his earlier sonic territories of break, psy, tribe and mental, OTON unveiled his LP New Forms of Silence ( March 2025), marking a decisive shift in his artistic direction. This autumn, he returns with its anticipated sequel, New Forms of Silence 2, exploring the deeper and dubbier side of techno, with a clear taste from the classic roots pushing the sound design ever further, always with his own signature released via Alliance Club.

2025 also sees the debut of OTON’s ambitious new project: the New Forms of Silence A/V Show. A natural extension of his practice as a highly visual artist, the performance integrates years of sonic experimentation with a collection of restored vintage gear — synths, FX racks, drum machines and more pushed to their most vivid limits. Collaborating with visual artist Onohno, the show unfolds as a technicoloured odyssey, seamlessly blending hypnotic live sound with immersive visuals.

‘b-CY’ is an impactful four-track techno EP, yet it borrows the aesthetic from the left-field side of things.

The title of the EP oscillates between the ideas of ‘breaking the Cycle’ and ‘bringing the Cycle’. It is a reflection on life’s rhythms and cycles through the repetitive nature of techno. In this release, Ilya moves his production into more interwoven structures that dissolve into one another, wrapping them in tribal percussion and reassembled breaks. 

‘b-CY’ is infused with fragments and textures drawn from Ilya’s favourite archival radio shows of the late ’90s and early 2000s, merging these samples into intricate sonic collages that blur the line between classic techno spirit and forward-thinking grooves. 

Staying true to his signature style and intuitive approach, with ‘b-CY’ Ilya continues to find his way around the outlines of techno.
