Today's challenge was to try and make a song in one sitting from 5 minutes of Prophet 08 sounds I'd recorded in the morning. I then made coffee so I decided to leave it like this and watch people out my window while holding my mug with both hands. Overall, alright day.

P.s. I ate a very crumbly apple crisp granola bar on a long chairlift yesterday and thought the situation was rather surreal so I laughed a little bit as I admired the view.

How I Feel

I often find it hard to separate the emotional and methodical while making music. So tonight I challenged myself to make a song in an hour (it ended up being an hour and twenty seven minutes); working quickly and without developing the emotional attachments to sounds and ideas that would otherwise keep a production hidden in the deep and dark depths of the hard drive, silently hoping that maybe, just maybe, it might just one day see the light of day. In case you're interested, I was drinking an Estrella beer and eating blueberries and little pieces of cheese.

Where The Clouds End

This project has really helped unlock some stiffness that had arisen over the past two years - a feeling that each thing I worked on needed to be perfect, leading to months of minute changes and rewrites and ultimately not finishing too much and having a rather bleak release schedule. Well, I tell you - it feels nice to just release things as you finish them. It's what I used to do when I started TÂCHES, and the quick turnaround of making and then sharing that music right away keeps you inspired. Not sure where all of this focus is coming from lately but for the third day running, I present to you another track.

Broke The Bell

A few weeks ago, @itskaasi told me of a beautiful idea he’d had about a way to be able to upload more of what he was really making on a daily basis. Real and raw, the motivation behind it, he’d worded beautifully;

TO STAMP THE MOMENT IN TIME

His concept of ‘stamping’ an idea in time thrilled me mainly because of the fact that it allows you to hear the stepping stones between our releases or, as I like to think of them, the little moments of madness that would have otherwise remained private. 

As producers, we’re often working on many projects at once, and ideas that could have actually been realised then and there in the moment, instead sit forgotten. Usually, an actual 'song' will have waited around for about a month or two before it then gets its scheduled release. 

So, here is this Soundcloud, where I can share with you what I’m making today; just pure unabashed exploration and the things that weren’t ever meant to be anything more than what they are, this isn't so much about my 'songs', so much as the sounds of my everyday.

I hope for this to serve as a map of my creative path, so you can see where my heart is going between my official releases, and more importantly what it is that is inspiring me now rather than a few months ago.

Ultimately, I can get back to feeling that this is all a humble journey, and not a deadline ridden marathon of milestones.
