This mix is wicked. I have been experimenting with and love hybrid live/DJ sets. A DJ can set the tone whilst some live jamming can add the spice. Very interested in the ALM Pamela's Discotheque. How was it? Were you beta testing it @hamiltonscalpel. I found my own way of syncing without one, but it was stressful and it took a lot of concentration to maintain!

On 22nd Oct '21 Concrete Cabin returned to the club realm after a bit of time off. The result was an all night b2b between Hamilton Scalpel and Mother, previewing a live / DJ hybrid set up. This is three hour section until the end of the night, and as you will hear, the recording ended up quite blown-out and heavily compressed. We think it sounds good like this, and sometimes you should leave the manicures to nail techs. This recording is presented here in its completely unedited and original form. Rita Mikhael is one of the most exciting exports of the Toronto (Canada) scene over the last few years. And there are compelling reasons for it. With a penchant for scorched rhythms, tonnes-heavy distortions and sledgehammer beats, E-Saggila is championing the non-conformist sound deriving from gabber, break-core, electro, noise and other influences. Since entering the scene in 2015, she has not only built an extensive discography on the likes of Opal Tapes, Northern Electronics, Hospital Productions and other labels but also co-navigated Summer Isle, a DYI label, to promote the noise-centric and power electronics sound in her homeland. We had the opportunity to ask E-Saggila about her background, the recent releases and current ventures, as she dusted the decks for DT #195 podcast.

Scrying the Landscape episode XII w. Elina Tapio and Hannah Pezzack. Roving, cavernous, stretching outwards. Elina Tapio and Hannah Pezzack dedicate the twelfth instalment of 'Scrying the Landscape' to the power of Drone and its adjacent, inspired genres. Composed of sustained notes or tone clusters, Drone is often categorised as “maximal” music because it tests the physical limitations of listeners, producing bodily, meditative or even hallucinatory effects. Within the excessive duration of elongated or repetitive chords, unexpected frequencies can arise as the mind projects utterances that aren’t there. Traversing the realms of psych, folk, dark and experimental variants, this mix oscillates across the spectrum of dronology, towards an endlessly extending vanishing point where sound and music converge.

An enterprising spirit that rose to prominence through the world of experimental club music, Air Max '97 has streamlined his sound and renewed his focus the last few years. Part-in-hand to the time he's put into the curation of his label DECISIONS, the release of his debut album Nacre last year also proved a pivotal achievement in terms of distilling his new ideas into something succinct and impactful. With Batu recently tapping him up for a 12" on Timedance, he seems to have found a perfect stride working within the realms of functionality, groove and  sound design. We caught up with Oli to discuss the geographic immersion of his debut LP, his collaborative productions with AYA, the output and experience of running his own label, and his pop-sensibilities from working on music with Don Sinini. His Truancy Volume, which he describes as being a faithful representation of his current club sets, uses DECISIONS material as the core foundation of the tracklist. Shifting tempos, rhythmic patterns and thick textures into an hour long mix, it's a mind-bending trip shelling through all sorts of club flavours.
