Bruecke Invites: Vromo

Vromo discovered techno through clubbing, but when the pandemic hit, his source for techno was shut off. This is when he picked up DJ’ing. While digging deeper into the genre, he found that old school techno fits his taste the best. Being drawn more to music which is only available on vinyl, Vromo figured he needed a pair of turntables and started collecting records. Now he’s pushing the groovy analogue sound by dusting off records from a forgotten era.

'Bruecke Invites' is a vinyl only podcast series that will be uploaded every six weeks. With this series, Bruecke puts a spotlight on artists that practice the old school turntable craft.

The 117th FrenzyPodcast will be provided by Jacobworld. Hailing all the way from Perth, Australia, Jacob has been surprising us with his sound in the recent period. In his recent releases ‘Circadian Rhtyhm EP’ on OOM Records and ‘Rotation EP’ on Format Records, Jacob shows has shown his talent and feeling for creating a unique sound in his productions.

Jacob created a 1.5h mix about which he told the following: “I love music in all its forms and really enjoy the process of creating and experiencing sound, which drives my desire to create such experiences for others. With all my mixes I try and incorporate elements of sound design that has amazed me whether it be in headphones, clubs and anywhere in between. This sound particularly lay in 90’s techno and I think that will be evident in the mix. I like imperfections in mixing and admire the organics of the human touch, which is why turntables are my weapon of choice.”

Luke Tyrrell, aka T-RAIL, has come a long way since his humble beginnings in Dublin. Having honed his craft within some of the most reputable clubs and underground collectives in the Irish capital since the age of 17, Luke decided to leap into the big zestful pond of Berlin back in 2018. 

Guided by his surroundings in both cities, the 23-year-old proudly showcases through his sets that he is a product of his environment. There’s a grit to Luke’s style that is only outweighed by his infectious aura of positivity.

For the last mix of the year we have the Berlin based DJ Kyly soothing your ears for Christmas. Being part of the Shockwerk crew he has showed his quality numerous times on their events. His record collection is one to get very excited about and that is why we had to have him record a mix for us.    

The Turkish roots of the DJ are displayed in his swinging style of mixing no nonsense colourful tribal Techno with a strong aversion towards dark rave. The records in this mix with rumbling drums and funky samples get you right in the mood. 1 hour and 13 minutes of pure tribal bliss.

Tommy Lewis is a DJ/Producer currently based in Vancouver, Canada. He co-founded and runs the label PHTM (@ phtm.music), hosting his solo releases and featuring talent across the globe. His crate runs deep, you can expect nothing less than Tommy's signature groovy sound while pushing boundaries with his wide range of percussive rhythms. In this mix, Tommy has put together a collection of upcoming/released PHTM releases, including some of his favourite artists and music throughout the year of 2022.
