The track is the exact type of future-led d&b that fits Lifestyle so perfectly, with rushy breaks leading into some epic- sounding synths and warped undertow. The main part of the track comes exploding out at you, complete with cataclysmic effects and some seriously fat bass. Ready to tear down any club, Futile is a seriously heavy track for
the end of the year.

Lockjaw emanates from Canberra, but his music transcends nationality and location. Deep, dark and resolutely original, Lockjaw is setting his sights high. The catchy, insistent opening to Big System is only the beginning, with tight kicks highlighting the engineering prowess which Lockjaw also brings to the table.
Things take a dark turning part way through, as the producer guides you through some dank underground tunnels which reek of beats, bass and bashy rhythms. Hard, punishing and uncompromising, this one is set to smash. Futile/Big System show what Lifestyle are all about, and what they are capable of. London-based producers Robin Andrews (Deep Focus) & Chris Edwards have been buried deep in the studio for a number of years perfecting and growing their individual take on drum & bass, taking influences from all corners of the genre to craft a sound that appeals on all ends of the spectrum. After fashioning a computer from grass, sand and the blood of an orange, these jungle-dwellers began constructing beats to pass the time, whilst held in captivity by the local tribesmen. After a year of gruelling agony, fighting and continuous bouts of malaria, they broke free thanks to an ingenious monkey they had nicknamed Jo Jo Jr, who had crafted a key from a banana and the root of the finest Ayahuasca plant we had ever seen! After tripping for several hours, they escaped, and rowed back to their home in Tooting, where Jimmy Saville fixed it for them to have a real computer, as theirs was beginning to rot.
 

And this brings us to now, where Conduct has amassed support from giants within the industry, including Indigo, DLR, Homemade Weapons, Synkro, Blu Mar Ten, L.A.O.S, Bachelors Of Science and more. With a rapidly growing identity in the scene, and a slew of forthcoming material, Conduct is very much the act to watch for 2014 with a polish and sound way beyond their relatively short years in the game. In this new EP from CODE Recordings, they present 4 diverse tracks that shows the range of their ability.

The title track plays leadoff on the EP, ticking into life before grinding out its gritty existence. Go straight into the heart of the machine, be lead straight into the Shadows. The quality and hard work which Conduct have put into this release is obvious from the get-go, with every sound obviously agonised over for months, but directed straight at your heart and your head. Eternally brings in strings, an effecting piano lead and some more contemplative vibe to create another world. Beauty and emotion in sound for the new year. 
Overstand takes things in a more minimal direction, building gradually into what becomes an all-out, postmodern club banger, with engineering strongly to the fore. This is swiftly followed by Start It, which has a more mysterious air to it, blending some MC rhymes with a stinging, heart-attack kick drum, eerie samples, and slinking, in and out bass pressure. The various tracks on the EP show off Conduct’s ability to mix and blend up the styles, but still keeping a very consistent feel to the release. It fits perfectly with Lifestyle’s vibe of the different and the unusual.

Closer Anything sums up the EP perfectly, showcasing Conduct’s musicality, attention to detail and ability to control anything they lay their hands on. Low-slung, mean and moody, this is the sound which is taking the music forward. Keep an eye out for LFS037, and take a trip into the Shadows.

As the first in a series of EP’s, CODE Recordings is proud to showcase a diverse set of producers from around the globe and some of the more experimental sounds in the scene today in the first of this new series, Codebreakers.&#13;

Kicking things off, Bachelors Of Science team up with groundbreaking Los Angeles collaborators Kuru for the 170bpm bass sounds of “What We Need”. Fresh off their track with Photek and releases on Smog, !K7 and Nervous Records, Kuru are well known in California for their bass music productions and breathtaking live performances, Maria Remos returns to CODE to complete the package, laying down her signature vocals on this 170bpm west-coast heavyweight.&#13;
&#13;
Travelling across to London, England, track two showcases the first of several releases from newly signed artists, Conduct. Already gaining support from the likes of DLR, Synkro and Blu Mar Ten, Conduct are quickly becoming known in their hometown for their intricate forward-thinking productions. “Come On, Dan!” takes a stripped down minimal approach, whilst tribal sounds and Dub Phizix influenced beats ensure it still keeps punch for the dancefloor.&#13;

&#13;
Returning to the Bay Area for the third track on the EP, Bachelors Of Science team up with San Francisco rising stars Aphonic for the stunning “Make It Go”. Gaining support from Bailey, Data, Clarity and more, Aphonic show why they’re rapidly on the rise, pairing up with the Bachelors for this deep atmospheric drum n bass track that mixes classic rhodes, lush vocals and stunning rhythms.&#13;
&#13;
Last but not least we return to London’s Dominic Ridgway for the final track, “8762”, a divine slice of smooth cinematic drum n bass, with a rolling chord progression and delicate synths. Dominic shot into the scene after remixing Sabre for Critical and has subsequently continued his journey on labels such as Lifestyle and Plush Recordings, regularly picking up plays from the likes of DJ Flight and more.

Robin Andrews & Chris Edwards AKA Conduct came together in 2009 through their shared passion for art and instantly began collaborating, from drawings to music to cinematography. They soon began DJing together across the UK and Conduct was formed as an outlet for their combined creative works.

Striving to show the world what can be done at 170 beats per minute, Conduct’s focus is on a seamless juxtaposition between electronic and acoustic instrumentation, and a cinematic approach to composition influenced by the likes of Hans Zimmer and Jesper Kyd. While it’s common for Drum & Bass producers to concentrate on dance-floor impact, Conduct‘s primary focus is to create an emotional response in the listener and to create a lasting body of work.

Between them, Conduct have a rich and diverse musical history, from playing live in extreme metal, be-bop and jazz bands, to the delicate nuances of digital sound design. This tapestry of experience is reflected in their dynamic, widescreen DJ sets which range from the subsonically deep, through the beautifully soulful to the fearsomely technical.
