Back in 2015 I finally got my home studio setup and running again.  I hadn’t produced any music for 22 years and I was very eager to get all my samples together, safely stored away and collated. Most were on tape cassette and minidisc, which I transferred to digital and cleaned up. Using those samples and new ideas, Project 3 was part of many projects I had started in my spare time. My mind was full of ideas, but this project stood out from the rest.

Well l finally reached the stage where l am now able to release my new track ‘Shadows Of The Past’.  It has been a long journey to get here and an immense uphill struggle.  There was a time only recently that I still didn't think l would ever make it here. A stroke and then a heart attack 10 days later in 2019 took away so many of my physical and cognitive abilities that l have had to re-learn much of the music production skills that were once familiar.

Written text has become quite a challenge and l rely more now on imagery to help me understand certain things, so I wanted the track Shadows Of The Past to also have a visual aspect, hence the short video that accompanies it.  The combining of both music and video may seem like a very simple task to a lot of people these days, but to me it is something that has taken time to learn new skills.

As l continue on through the journey of my life l still have very raw distinct memories of the stroke and heart attack and what parts of me it took away with it. However I try to have hope that each day that passes those memories become less recognizable and fade away so they become more like Shadows Of The Past.

After producing the original track Confusion In Motion and also the Poetic Version, both which were centred around my mind been in a state of confusion, l wanted to produce something that was a not as dark as the original track and that hopefully expressed that the previous phase in my life was now moving forward and l can finally see a Light In The Distance which offers a glimmer of hope.
