"Glasgow-based producer and INDEX:Records co-owner Conna Haraway unveils his debut solo release on Theory Therapy – 8 tracks of luminous electronics and restless textures too amorphous to be neatly categorised into a particular genre. Over 40+ minutes, the co:clear founder fuses dubbed-out illbient abstractions, voluminous low end and aquatic gurgles into unconventional analgesic soundscapes. The overall result is something immersive, visceral, and psychedelic – a fully-fledged sound that sits somewhere between delirium and bliss.

Lusidiq features 3 remixes by Seoul duo Salamanda, Philadelphia-based DJ and producer Opheliaxz, and Adam Dove, best known as sound artist Nexcyia."

Glasgow-based producer Conna Haraway returns to Theory Therapy with his first vinyl release, 'Spatial Fix'. Inspired in part by his 2024 tour of Japan and Korea, the album explores new dimensions of his evolving sound.

Since 'Lusidiq' – his debut on Theory Therapy – the co:clear owner has honed his ability to balance introspective atmospheres with crisp, meticulously crafted rhythms, imbuing his music with a physicality that’s as tactile as it is hypnotic.

'Spatial Fix' expands on this approach in every respect. Clocking in at just under 35 minutes, the record oscillates between ambient abstraction and rhythmic intensity, seamlessly weaving the two together. Tracks like “Freon” and “1702” are anchored by a propulsive low end, woven through with Haraway’s crackling textures and field recordings – including those captured across Asia last year. Even in these deeply immersive moments, there’s always something luminous lurking beneath the surface – snaps, clicks, and micro-shudders ripple throughout in strange and surprising ways. The result is an album that pulls you into a writhing, disorienting space, a psychedelic sonic world where beauty and unease pulse in equal measure.

Three sanguine slices of dub techno from Glasgow-based wunder Conna Haraway. And featuring XENIA REAPER providing vibes and synths on the lush long elevation "Redirect" that sits on the record’s A side.

Shifted follows on from Spatial Fix; Conna’s first solo 12” in March ’25 that released on Theory Therapy. Where that EP was a dense and rich web of texture and atmosphere across the two long sides, this one focuses in on forms of propulsion and a patient, silvery endlessness.

A side track "Redirect" was cut from a longer Sunday night session with XENIA REAPER. Two laptops Ableton linked, chilling in the flat in Glasgow. The amazing synth line is all XENIA, everything else is Conna; looping the synth & bass for about an hour and bringing other elements in and out. The final tune is gorgeous, floating in the blissful ether before the sub and pulse kicks through. Eleven and a half minutes of enveloping pressure, refreshment and delight.

"Detach" and "Duration" both turn to a rediscovered love for 4x4 techno and an experiment in a more classic and subtle sound from the perspective of a producer who might be expected to take bigger emotive and experimental swings that follow the patterns of contemporary ambient and bass. The result is beautiful and delicate vectors of music, satisfyingly easy to slide into a set. Swung techno filled with detail and poise. Tunes that can scale and transform and sit in a sort of home listening club track zone. After hours nrg.

More than escape, the compilation unfolds as a pulse of creation, an openness to the unknown, a gentle defiance of fixed forms. Each track trusts the unpredictable, treading paths that dissolve like echoes under unhurried steps. 

Between freedom and disorientation, only fleeting traces remain, blurring the borders of time and space…

INDEX:Records alum vase (aka Downstairs People; games) and label-head Conna Haraway team up as ‘Department’ to deliver a two-track mini-epic of sprawling brooding soundscapes and future-facing rhythms, via finely chiseled abstract outbursts and widescreen cinematic depth of field. (Additional live instrumentation comes courtesy of Glasgow-based staev, and INDEX:Rec affiliate MCRD supplies intuition suggestions.)

Starting off as a proper serene slice of beatless musing, 'Cogent' slowly hatches into a rhythmic shape-shifter combining the immersive power of elastic sound membranes with the incisiveness of post-industrial breaks, leaning towards IDM-oid fractals and signature UK bass menace.

All in vaporous piano chords (cue: staev), heavily dubbed-out layers and FX-coated emotion, 'Recovery' beckons us onto the path of soulful elation with its poignant melange of brittle stabs and skittish drum patterns gone astray. Dark and solar at once, the track blends cavernous entrancement with verbed-out RnB samples and percussive trenchant on a steely, broken techno tip.

Ethereal like a mirage yet daunting as the four elements boiling up a storm, Department's debut two-tracker is an elusive piece of sewn-together sketches exuding the sheer magnitude of a master painting in sound.
