Can Love Be Synth alias Katja Ruge and Frank Husemann finally made it to Torture the Artist's radio show absolutely on music at [sic]nal - finally because it was the third attempt to bring Frank and Katja into the sacred halls of the Übel & Gefährlich club, where the duo also produces their music together. The first release of Can Love Be Synth dates back to 2017 and was called Megapulser on Bordello A Parigi. Meanwhile the versatile duo has music out on Curses’ Ombra International or TAU and their most recent work, Bunker on Hamburg based label A Clean Cut. Find out about Katja and Frank's approach to music in the studio, where they ran into each other, what sweets they favor and enjoy Katja's ravey DJ-Set.

He’s been a part of the electronic music for two decades with a first release under his given name Richard called Lieben Tun. Throughout his career he has released several albums as well as dozens of singles - sometimes with almost poetic track titles and  sometimes simply based on life itself and reality. He’s blending Electronica, Techno, (Deep) House and Acid - but foremost he has this spheric, deep signature sound that he either works into his calmer tracks or in his clubbier production - probably because his music touches and moves people. Richard von der Schulenburg short RVDS is one of Hamburg’s poster boys when it comes to sophisticated, demanding and ambitious music. Consequently he has had releases on labels such as Uncanny Valley, Smallville, Pudel Produkte, It’s or Bureau B to name a few. On latter his album Cosmic Diversity drops this Friday. Reason enough to have him here with us today at absolutely on music.

With a growing stack of heralded EPs and a long list of aliases, dabbling in all facets of electronic dance, Tech Support stands amongst some of the most prolific DJs and producers out there. Yet despite a vigorous work ethic the young artist still maintains a sense of playfulness and irreverence in his work, demonstrated by his tongue-in-cheek curation of communist memes and quippy referential track names (‘That Record With Friends On It’ ring any bells?). Combining lashings of house euphoria, mind-melting chug, dirty basement disco, obscure italo and more, Tech Support is primed and ready to send you offworld to a strange yet familiar place of feel good, immersive dance music. And it’s not just dancefloor clientele that have been captured by these far-out frequencies, gaining support from the likes of Mixmag, Rinse FM, Houseum and fellow artists Black Loops, Late Nite Tuff Guy, and Dan Shake on a number of productions and mixes.

Releasing both digitally and on 12” wax you can find his work immortalised on a number of labels including Nocturne, Silver Bear Recordings, Together Alone Records, plus dive deeper still into his wealth of self-released edits and re-imaginings of iconic club tracks, each more infectious than the last. Alongside his talents as a producer Tech Support has moulded himself into an impressive crate digger and DJ too, cutting his teeth through deep, explorative sets and regular radio residencies at spaces like Mick’s Garage and stations like 1BTN, Threads, Netil, SWU FM and current monthly home Balamii respectively. Out on the festival circuit Tech Support has played stages on both home soil and overseas via Alfresco Festival in Tunbridge Wells to Defected in Croatia, and Tenby’s Westival to Solas in Dublin. Known for his effortless and intricate sets, Tech Support’s record bag is forever deep and his creative mind always ticking; equally comfortable locked in a disco groove or deftly joining the dots between sonic obscurities like darkwave and italo, he’s an artist capable of fully expressing himself unbounded by the limits of conventional genre narratives.

It has not been that long ago that Eileen started her career. But since the beginning, she has been considered one of the most promising talents in Frankfurt. With gigs at some of the coolest spots in town, such as Shuka Bar, Ima Rooftop, AMP, Silbergold, and Listener, her sonority develops itself through a broad amount of House Music encompassing as many sub-genres as possible and is mainly influenced by the likes of Francesco Del Garda, DMX Krew, and Le Loup, just to name a few. 

Despite being relatively new in the scene, she has already started throwing her own club night: Amore Collab has the goal of trying to bring a bit of musical variation to Frankfurt. 

"My motivation is to build a space for everyone who just wants to have a great time, fun, and dance. Always looking forward to playing the next time and curious about what will happen in the future", she said.

"London based DJ and producer Tech Support never settles on one sound, finding inspiration in anything from low slung chug to stripped back ethereal techno. Releasing EPs for the likes of Permanent Vacation, Ano Ano and Nocturne, he has made a name for himself through innovative edits of overlooked dance tracks from the past. His music has garnered support from influential figures such as Bradley Zero, CC:Disco!, Unai Trotti, Moxie, and ISAbella.

Recently, Tech Support has graced the decks across Europe in Berlin, Paris, Dublin, Belfast, and Brussels, while also making his Asia debut in Taipei this October. An adept remixer, TS has crafted remixes for notable artists including Sean Johnston (Hardway Bros / ALFOS), Benjamin Fröhlich, Manuel Darquart, and Demi Riquisimo."

In the words from Tech Support: "This mix was recorded live at Grey Area in Taipei, a rough and unguided 2 hours through Tech Support's varied sonic palette, locked in a groove of 90s house and prog that leads into a frenzy of techno and electro, you can pick out the odd bit of crowd noise in the recording too which I love! "
