MELODIC THERAPY

A returning Cityfox favorite, Rodriguez Jr. never fails to amaze us whether it’s when he’s doing his live set on our stages or in the studio with his productions. Brought up under the tutelage of the great Laurent Garnier, Rodriguez Jr. has made waves in his own right with his prolific and award-winning music productions. While the world stood still in 2020, Rodriguez Jr. labored without fail in the studio to bring us his third album, Blisss, that came out on mobilee records. Featuring collaborations with his wife, Liset Alea from Nouvelle Vogue, the album is an attestation to his tactful skill in creating epic melodies that never disappoint. 

Taking the time out of his busy release schedule, Rodriguez Jr. has afforded us a spectacular Foxcast that features his own works in addition to a Patrice Baumel remix of Cubicolor, tracks by Agents of Time, Ede, and others. A well-crafted aural journey, Rodriguez Jr. gently steers the listener through the soft waves of melodic and ambient deep house with vestiges of piano keys to harder-hitting tracks where the bassline really sings. Adeptly creating an ebb and flow, he inflects hypnotic and twangy tracks to keep things riveting, though a satisfying melody is never too far behind. 

As the sun shines brighter and the days of spring get longer, there is hope in the air elicited by the sounds of Rodriguez Jr.’s delightful Foxcast. Here’s to hoping that we all may be reunited on the dance floor quite soon and be able to host our favorite artists once more.

Riding in with the power to deliver sunshine to world’s rainiest open-air events, Monkey Safari brings rays of light to whatever dance floors they cast their shimmering spell on. The past few years saw the brothers swinging to new trees, retiring their previous labels to focus on their new label 'Hommage.' It were the years of transformation for the German producers, developing and tailoring a sound suited perfectly for the unique club nuances while still keeping the core elements of melodic chords and grooves synonymous with the duos productions.

During this time, Monkey Safari unveiled their remix for Marc Houle’s “Pepper” on Richie Hawtin’s label Minus and their hugely successful “Cranes” and “Walls“ EPs that presented opportunities for Monkey Safari to work with some exciting musicians, such as Wolf + Lamb and Kölsch, techno heavy weights Guy Gerber and Josh Wink, as well as one of dance music’s most iconic producers, Moby. Monkey Safari remixed a track for Moby & The Void Pacific Choir, returning the favor after Moby’s successful rework of the duo’s track “Walls” last year. Their next releases continued in the same fashion, featuring remixes from Paco Osuna, Chloé, John Digweed & Nick Muir, UNER, Guy Mantzur, Victor Ruiz and more, while signing tracks from amazing Blond:ish, legendary John Tajada, and others on their Hommage imprint.

The duo’s efforts in the studio have transcended to their DJ sets with stand out shows at Time Warp and Awakenings Festival. On top of a heavy touring schedule at world renowned clubs and headlining slots at festivals, the duo released their album ‘Odyssey’. Monkey Safari produced the same kind of tracks for this album they were playing as they toured nightclubs and festivals around the world, rather than simply a listening album.

In 2018 Monkey Safari carefully handpicked remixers they saw as most capable of continuing their vision for the album. The ‘Odyssey Remixes’ featured reworks of the original album tracks by the master himself, Carl Cox, international stars Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Musumeci, Tensnake and Reboot, studio geniuses Dubspeeka, Hannes Bieger, ROD, and Phil Moffa, as well as up-and-coming talent Avidus and Trivmph. Monkey Safari’s third album comes in perfect time for the summer sunshine of 2019. The duo follow up their last album, ‘Odyssey’, with this warm, inviting collection of music designed to brighten your day and complement the glorious sunny days that bless us during the summer. Sven and Lars learned some valuable lessons from their last long-player, and the new album ‘HI’ comes from a far more relaxed, easy-going place. An organic project that came together quite naturally, their third album sees the duo in high spirits ready to bring a large dose of positive vibes and emotional depth to the party.

2020 and 2021 sees Monkey Safari moving closer to legendary brands Get Physical and Anjuna Deep, starting with a remix and a multitude of EPs on the labels. Watch out for more news soon! The German outfit has been on an incredible run of form with promising developments in all of their endeavors and exciting news still to come. Be it a fresh remix or EP drop, DJ set or party, Monkey Safari will be sure to touch all scopes of dance culture with no signs of deceleration on the horizon.

Working together as producers, DJs and label owners, the duo explore a shared musical vision in a partnership that aims to broaden the horizons of electronic music. As producers, Alfa Romero share a passion for club friendly music. Although their tracks keep the focus on the dancefloor itself, they come with rich colours, deep emotions and strong rhythms. Aiwaska is the project from the mysterious producer with more than 20 years musical background. He has a hypnotic and spiritual sound, with organic chop elements. A perfect blend of Melodic House rhythm, with atmospheric bass lines & hypnotic vocals. His production expertise has seen him deliver releases for such esteemed dance music imprints as Exploited, Crosstown Rebels, Bar 25 Music and House Music With Love. It’s also bought him to collaborate with a whole host of legendary vocalists, such as Robert Owens, Roland Clark, Egyptian Lover, and Aquarius Heaven. He’s been asked to deliver his unique style also to remixes for many dance music aficionados like Patrice Baumel, Eelke Kleijn, Jenia Tarsol & Kino Todo, Audiofly, Tensnake, Dj Assault and more. It’s this impressive back-catalogue that has seen him gather support from electronic music royalty like Solomun, Black Coffee, Damian Lazarus, Adam Port, &Me, Rampa, ARTBAT to name just a few. He performs in a mask as in Peru, when shamans make a ritual and go to a different reality, they put masks on. These masks reflect who they are and because of that, spirits recognise you as one of them. You also see coins on his hat because when you go to the world of spirits, you give these coins to them as a gift. Aiwaska is also doing an NFT project and series of events “Aiwaska Planet”. Within the framework of this project, he creates a movement of people who want to help the planet and the environment, and makes events which include elements of an immersive show and where the NFT part of the money is raised from. The sales from these events he donates to wild animals and the environment. He has a global fanbase and has performed at many established venues such as Burning Man Festival, Odessey, and Alfa Future People. He has also recently started his own monthly radio show with the reputable Ibiza Sonica Radio. His work has been highly praised by both Mixmag & DJ Mag over the past year or so, and a promising future lies in store for him no doubt.

Pôngo is the electronic music project and live act of Giovanni and Daniele Bruni, two brothers and composers born and based in italy. Their strong influences blending electro, soul and techno have created this new way to approach the electronic music scene, with the combination of evocative songs and a powerfully refined set. In 2017 their first two EPs are released on Connected. The sigle ''Lose My Mind'' remixed by Arbat, is a success and paves the way to a broader audience. 2018 and 19 mark the release of two other singles ''So Many Words” and “The Only One“ on Blaufield, music label from the German duo Booka Shade. The sound of the project is thus consolidated, increasingly oriented towards Melodic Techno & Electro. In 2020 the two brothers come out with other two very powerful and successful releases. The single "Crocodile" on Disco Halal, record label by Moscoman, and “Call Me“ an EP on Eklektisch label. Those huge tracks are supported by many DJs and producers such as Dixon, Ame & Trikk. The year 2021 begins with their first EP on the historic and well known German label Systematic Recordings of the legend Marc Romboy. Their work receives great acclaim from many producers and followers of the German electronic scene. Their remix of Moskow Diskow by the legendary Telex, comes out shortly after and is long supported by Solomun in his sets. This opens a new path with the majestic label Diynamic Records that will showcase their new single ''Get It Now'' on the next Four to the Floor series. In 2023 a new releases was done: a single in collaboration with Aikon on Multinotes remixed by its owner Musumeci. Finally, two new EPs on the Doa records label and again Systematic recordings. 2024 was start with Huge “Believe” Ep on Uppeground records.
