Peter Matson is a musician, DJ, producer, and leader of the seminal NYC post-punk afro band Underground System. He’s toured internationally and produced their records on Soul Clap, Hell Yeah, Planet e, with forthcoming releases on Razor-n-Tape and Heavenly Sweetness. His recent solo 12" releases are finding their home on Brooklyn label Bastard Jazz as well as Dam Swindle's Heist Recordings

Not only are we celebrating the 20th anniversary of the label. This is the 150th episode of our podcast series! That's 12,5 years of mixes from the left side of the dancefloor. For our jubilee we welcome Michael Mayer from Cologne. He is not only an amazing DJ, but also our distribution boss at Kompakt. Here's what he says about his mix:

"One fine day there was a package on my desk, inside a 7" single with good mood music on yellow vinyl, wrapped in a hand painted good mood cover. It was Pingipung 01, Peter Presto's "Es war Sommer" and it was love at first sight. That this flash in the pan would turn into a 20-year (business) relationship is one of the most beautiful stories you can experience in the music business. Pingipung is a beacon of DIY culture, fed by deep devotion to impossible music. I am very happy to be able to present this musical bouquet for their anniversary."

Heute reisen wir ins schöne Leipzig … auch wieder zu einem Künstler der mir vorher überhaupt nix sagte … aber auch hier wurde mir wieder ein wunderbares Set offeriert und komischer weiße schon wieder in Vinyl … is gerade wieder mal Vinyl-Retro-Time? Toben meinte dazu:

„Vielleicht bekommst du ja jetzt so viele Vinyl-Sets, weil die ganzen Platten-DJs mal wieder Zeit haben ihre Technik auf Vordermann zu bringen ... so ging es mir jedenfalls. Ich hab mal die Zeit zum Beispiel mal genutzt um meinen Plattenspieler zu löten, dass der nicht mehr schnarrt. Und die ganze Knete die ich sonst an der Bar gelassen hätte, hab ich nun für neue Platten ausgegeben. Das kommt bei mir leider viel zu selten vor, da ich meistens chronisch pleite bin haha“

Na dann liebe Vinyl DJs wisst ihr Bescheid … Set aufnehmen und rüberschicken … haha … Danke Toben … ich bin sehr begeistert von dem spontanen Set … genau mein Ding.

"wow, what a beautifully loving, happy international vibes festival ! filled my heart and soul with smiles and joy ! for sure we sent out some beautiful energies of human connection, healing, love and freedom to the world....

and what a wonderful gift to play friday early eve at the humming hut on the lake, welcoming everyone to the party. i had prepped the decks for some floor bouncing skips on the vinyl, but not from the wind :0) ! ~ quite the fun challenge ~ at this point, to me it ends up being like a musical sport up there and i was just so happy to share my favourite tunes with everyone, that make me feel happy, free and see everyone smile.
