Facing the Tiger

Die Wut kocht im Bauch,
und ich lasse sie an dir aus.
Ich weiß es sollte anders laufen,
es ist einfach nur zum Haare raufen.

Ich stehe mir selbst im Weg,
würde es gerne ändern,
bald ist es zu spät.
Doch noch besitze ich das Privileg. 

Also blicke ich dem Tiger ins Gesicht,
suche ihn und die Konfrontation,
es gibt nur die diese eine Option.
Damit dieses Unbehagen erlischt. 

Erleichterung macht sich in mir breit,
dass ist das Gefühl wahrhaftiger Freiheit.
Eigentlich wusste ich es schon immer,
vor seinem Schatten kann man sich nicht verstecken,
man muss ihn annehmen, umformen und somit die alten Laster niederstrecken.
Ich bin definitiv ein Gewinner!

FRACTAL ARCHITECT ist der Schöpfer des heutigen Podcasts. Sein Set umschreibt eine Berg und Tal fahrt. Die Melodien lassen einen sanft in unsagbare Höhen entschweben. Kurz darauf folgt der freie Fall in Richtung Erdboden. Doch im letzten Moment landet man weich auf einer flauschigen Wolke und segelt entspannt dem Sonnenuntergang entgegen.

In 2014, he burst on to the scene with his first solo release,Bantwanas Piano, on Defected Records, which DJ Mag dubbed a 'towering achievement in the landscape of modern house music'. Ryan then found a home in Berlin powerhouse, Get Physical Music, where his Ikalimba EP was championed by a plethora of superstar DJs and is still played to this day by Solomun, Adriatique and many others. 

These successes found him on the coveted Boiler Room line-up in Amsterdam at the annual ADE conference, alongside his friend and countryman Black Coffee, and subsequently secured him a residency at Mr Coffee's first Season of the Hi Ibiza residency. Ryan held many residencies at South African clubs such as Shimmy Beach and Reset. The years 2017 and 2018 saw collaborations and remixes for Lane 8, Super Flu, John Monkman and the release of the 'Africa Gets Physical' compilation on Get Physical. Super Flu's remix of Something Said reached Beatport Afro House No. 1 and Ryan's remix of Lane 8's Stir Me Up reached over 3 million streams.

A powerful year for Murgatroyd was 2019 as he founded his record label, Swoon Records. His debut single Wicked Eyes was voted Ibiza Top 10 Tracks by DJ Mag and supported by Solomun, Tale of Us and many other international artists. Ryan brought his forward thinking Live performance, containing only his original music, to the Mixmag Lab series, alongside Jonas Rathsman, Seth Troxler and Cassy, and shortly thereafter made his German festival debut at Fusion Festival alongside Artbat, Super Flu and Marcus Meinhardt.

Now, venturing into his most prolific creative year, a string of new releases are waiting in the wings. First up, the emotive single ‘We Go Walking’ which drops on Swoon Recordings on the 28 February 2020, followed by his remix of rising African talent, Aero Manyelo due for release in March. To top it off he will headlining a series of Swoon Showcase residencies at leading venues in Cape Town, Berlin and Barcelona and holding court on dance floors the world over.
