Dance music icon Sean "DJ Spen" Spencer first laid his hands on the decks at the age of thirteen while growing up in Baltimore, and he hasn’t looked back since. He began his career producing mix shows for Baltimore’s WEBB AM. Even at that young age, Spen founded one of the area's first hip hop production groups, the Numarx. Through the early 90s, DJ Spen was a staple on various radio stations in the Baltimore/Washington DC area. The years that followed saw DJ Spen transition from his hip-hop roots towards dance music. After joining the famed production collective, Basement Boys in the early 90s, DJ Spen became known for his unique style of blending house music with everything from R&B, funk, and gospel. This sound would define his productions for years to come.

In 2012, Spen founded the Quantize Recordings imprint, which has since become a regular outlet for his music and the music of dozens of talented producers. The label is known for soulful dance music productions and has become a mainstay in the dance music community. In 2014, DJ Spen announced sub-label "Unquantize" with a focus on underground and alternative dance music sounds. To date, the Quantize and Unquantize catalog has grown to over 600 releases featuring esteemed vocalists such as Crystal Waters, Alicia Myers, Ann Nesby, Jocelyn Brown, Sarah Dash, Barbara Tucker, and Kenny Bobien. Legendary house music producers such as John Morales, David Morales, Louie Vega, Tony Humphries, Kenny Carpenter, and Danny Krivit have all put their special touch on label releases.

With a career span of more than 30 years and his famous studio and production work, Spen has become one of the most sought-after U.S. producers, remixers, and DJs. His unique stamp can be found on pop anthems from Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Everything but the Girl, Toni Braxton and more. If that isn’t enough, he has played in some of the premier clubs across the globe, further establishing his status as an eminent figure in house music, both past and present.

Junior Jack’s achievements are multitude. As a producer, he’s created some of the best records of the early 2000s in house music, including ‘My Feeling’, ‘Thrill Me (Such A Thrill)’, ‘E Samba’, ‘Dare Me (Stupidisco)’ and ‘Da Hype’ (which all went Top 40 in the UK) as well as his debut album ‘Trust It’ in 2004 which featured all of the above as well as his still-smoking club mix of the aforementioned Ibiza classic ‘Thrill Me’. 

He was also one of the most prolific house music mixers of that magical era, and we haven’t even mentioned his chart-topping disco classic ‘Make Luv’ by his alter ego Room 5, which made it to the very top of the charts in 2003 in the UK. As a DJ as well, he dominated dance floors relentlessly across the globe, including his residency at Pacha in Ibiza, where he really came into his own as the master of his own sound for Defected.

Harry had the privilege of being raised in a musical family. His mother soaked the air with the Latin rhythms of merengue and cumbia, while his father, a former opera tenor, practiced his scales and listened to Beethoven. These early influences drive Harry to constantly look to expand musically... and he has.Run-DMC, along with the Latin-freestyle movement in the 80s, inspired Choo-Choo (the train conductor's cap he's worn since childhood may have something to do with the nickname). Choo-Choo jump-started his career as a DJ with a high-voltage performance at a New Jersey dance club. From there, he was taken under the wing of Millennium Music, a management company and production team. Harry worked with their label, Gossip Records (distributed by Strictly Rhythm), creating demos and gathering some useful industry-related knowledge.His first record, Soulfuric "Urban Turban" was clearly ahead of its time, weaving Arabic scatting with house grooves. Strictly Rhythm grabbed the record for release in 1995, and asked him to release a follow-up Soulfuric record, called "Sea Of Passion" which captured more Latin elements. Both records were licensed extensively, catapulting Harry's name and music out into the world.A number of releases followed for labels like Emotive, Sex Mania, Power Music, and Gossip Records. One of Harry's major breaks resulted from C&C Music Factory's Robert Clivilles' interest in one of Harry's creations named "Il Futuro", a house track with an Italian vocal from "World" EP.Robert asked Harry to write, produce, and arrange a song, "Saturday Night" for his 1996 LP "Robi-Rob's Club World". As expected, lots of work followed for Harry.Collaborations with his labelmates and others have been extremely important for Harry as he continues to develop his name and his body of work. Constipated Monkeys, Harry's acclaimed partnership with Jose Nunez, has produced several percussive, funky tracks including "Cro-Magnon" and "Erectus" (Subliminal Records). The success of these tracks has launched the team into another wave of production - their 12" "Sunshine" was released this summer. In addition, Constipated Monkeys' worldwide reputation as producers and DJs has earned them residencies at both The Ministry of Sound in London and Pacha in Ibiza, Spain.To top off Harry's stream of new solo releases, a much- anticipated follow-up track with the stunning vocalist Inaya Day will succeed last year's tremendous Subliminal release "Just Can't Get Enough". Harry describes this record as "chalk-full of 80s rock n' roll and Latin roots."He is an impressive young man with an honest and zealous dedication to improving and honing his talents. He recognizes Dave Darlington, an engineer he has worked closely with, for inspiring him to sharpen his technical skills, and he credits the many great musicians and vocalists he's worked with for reminding him that it's all about the music.

The producer style is versatile, mostly Garage, House and New-Jersey house oriented, but he can always surprises with some Deep-House vibes, Debby House, Dub techno and more recently "French Touch" flavored tracks with his new project called "Beaux Arts". John Tejada is a Vienna-born, Los Angeles-based electronic music composer, DJ, and professor at CalArts. Tejada’s professional output of music began in 1994 and has never let up, including five albums for the revered label Kompakt, plus releases on Pokerfl at, Cocoon, Plug Research, Seventh City, Playhouse, Defected, and his own label since 1996, Palette Recordings. Since the inception of his live show and his exciting new style of house music, Alex Preston has become a force to be reckoned with in the world of electronic music. The Sydney-native utilises his skills as a virtuoso musician as he tastefully melds his signature guitar licks with disco tinged bass lines and warm pulsating house beats. 2020 is proving to be Alex Preston’s breakout year with Mark Knight labelling him as one of his favourite producers and one to watch out for in the coming months. 

Signing with Mark’s infamous Toolroom Records, Alex was handed the responsibility of mixing and curating the Toolroom Poolside Album 2020. The release features 4 new originals from Alex with vocals from Rion S and includes his collaboration with the legendary, Friend Within. It also includes 2 DJ mixes hand picked by Alex, not only showcasing Alex’s production talents but also his skills as a tastemaker DJ. The run up to the end of 2019 saw Alex’s music hit a new gear as Traxsource named him their no.15 highest selling House artist for 2019; Alex sharing the top 20 with names such as David Penn, Low Steppa, Mousse T, Kevin McKay, Purple Disco Machine & Todd Terry. 

This momentum flowed into January 2020 as Friend Within played Alex’s single “Your Ragga” off his Basement Sound label on BBC Radio 1 Future Anthems; along with the Aston Shuffle spinning his track “A Very Healthy Thing” off Low Steppa’s Simma Black imprint on Triple J; all in the same weekend. The following week Mark Knight dropped “A Very Healthy Thing” on Toolroom Radio and hailed Alex as “a name to look out for in 2020”. Toolroom records singing Alex’s single “An Example of Disco” (featuring the vocals of Rion S) scheduling it for a worldwide release on 6 March 2020 adding it to their Miami 2020 Compilation. Alex also signed with Kevin McKay’s hugely successful, Glasgow Underground. With Kevin himself editing one of Alex’s more blues-influenced tracks, “Get Myself Together” (also featuring the vocals of Rion S and released on 3 April 2020).

D’Arabia approached this world when he was very young and he started to collect vinyls in 2005. In May 2016 he founded his label Red Rooster Records. The first release of the label was a four tracks E.P. produced by D’Arabia and his partner Dj Rou, a real funk explosion and his track "Pajama Girl" reached a lot of parties all over the world. D'Arabia, with Red Rooster Records, cooperated with a lot of good italian artists like Frank Agrario (Saunderson), Minimono (Bosconi Records), Memoryman aka Uovo(Pastaboys), Calma (Sorry For This Records), Dj Cream and The Mechanical Man. In 2018 he released Key Lime, a powerful track remixed by Pachtworks, Ron Basejam, COEO and Harry Wolfman on The House Of Disco Records. His dj sets are very engaging and can range from deep funk grooves to fine jazzy vibes always moving to classic house cuts, he love samples and fat drums. With an open mind to the future, D’Arabia constantly studies and improves his skills to bring his energy on new frontiers.

In his productions, Denyl tries to mix raw house sounds with a funky upbeat twist, fused together though an analog approach. His inspiration comes from artists like Daft Punk, Leo Pol, Paul Johnson and Demuja. When playing out, Denyl curates a very rhythmic House set, with some retro twists thrown in for good measure. He likes to juggle styles while keeping the overall groove warm. There's a lot on the horizon for this French Producer, he's currently working on a number of projects. With plans to appears on 3 Various Artist end of 2021 and 2 EP's for the beginning of 2022.

As one of the most respected DJ’s and promoters on Leeds’s illustrious dance music circuit Joe Morris has been involved in the underground music scene for over twenty years. While not pinned to one particular sound Joe’s inimitable style favours a melodic touch, using his vast experience to expertly craft emotive scenarios; from dance-floor to chill out atmospheres. Crystalizing this ethos into his productions Joe has enjoyed a string of well received releases on a myriad of diverse labels such as Pleasure Unit, Paper Recordings, Is it Balearic and Secret Life Music. It’s a heady cocktail that has seen him gig around the world and back again; from smoke filled basements to festival stages. Joe strives to leave no stone unturned in his search for the perfect beat through his Shades Of Sound record label and radio shows on Balamii Radio.

A paixão por uma boa pista de dança foi o que levou Patricia Vasconcelos, artista conhecida como Due, a se descobrir como DJ na cidade de São Paulo. Da energia transformadora da cultura de festas de rua, além de um renascimento pessoal, nasceu o interesse pela música eletrônica, primeiramente a House Music, maior influenciadora da sua identidade. Desde a sua estreia nos decks, em meados de 2018, Due vem se descobrindo musicalmente e explorando novos sons e sensações que a música pode nos proporcionar. Enrique Jimenez aka Big Pack is the House Salad Music label boss out of Mexico City. He discovered his love for electronic music in the mid 90's when he attended house and techno parties with local DJs. From then on, his intimate love affair with house music began. The sound of Chicago with labels like Cajual and Relief and Prescription brought him the most inspiration. His whole trajectory changed and music became his life. The task of discovering music became an infinite loop of collecting records. After 11 years of touring dance floors as a spectator and amateur DJ, in 2005 he acquired his first turntables, technics 1200s. When he finally felt he had an extensive vinyl collection, he decided to venture into the world of DJing professionally. Now, with some years of experience, Big Pack has played in key clubs all over Mexico, opening for artists such as Kevin Saunderson, Kenny Larkin, Derrick Carter, Phil Weeks, Wally Callerio, Andrew Emil, JT Donaldson , Oliver Dollar, 1200 Warriors, to name a few. Out of Mexico, Big Pack has playing in Canada, USA and Costa Rica. He is very busy with several internet radio show residencies on Radio Webphre and his own podcast & label, House Salad Music, featuring the best DJs in house music. Convinced of the timelessness of music, his mixes are a real tunnel of time, where he plays classics combined with the freshest of modern house.

Big Pack @ Chicago Calling #107 - Mexico

Artist Info:
Orlando Voorn remains one of the most significant producers and dj's of a generation having released a sprawling catalogue of material across almost thirty years. In the 90's his focus was placed on techno and purpose built club tracks, this is perhaps what he is best known for. However, in between this there have been explorations into IDM, House and beyond with endless monikers fulfilling his creative aspirations. The Living Room, Format, Fix, Baruka and The Nighttripper are but to name a very few.

Orlando Voorn played a pivotal role in the emergence of Detroit techno in Holland - he pioneered a sound which evolved in the underground communities of the US and helped bring it to life overseas. Collaborations with the likes of Blake Baxter and Juan Atkins cemented this further.

In the present he remains an unsung hero of the underground, still furiously releasing music at a relentless pace. His latest outing is on Kompakt and showcases his longstanding relationship with old school electro and Detroit techno in fine form.
