For the second volume of V.A Patterns, Prototype embraces the proposal of musical versatility. Steyoyoke Black consummate their latest release, with an all original EP from Berlin based producer Mallone. ‘Hypnagogic’ is his first release with the label and it arrives boasting plenty of bold crepuscular sounds. Consisting of two tracks ‘Maelstrom’ and ‘The Flowing Moon’, both productions are a testament to Mallone’s unique talent and ingenuity.

‘Maelstrom’ starts off with a cascade of drum layers and gradually builds into a high intensity bass line. Melodic key changes ebb and flow in the background, ladling warm textures and chiming accents, which add to the tracks overall sonority. ‘Maelstrom’s’ energy is then momentarily suspended and left hanging in the orchestral sweeps of the break down, before diving back down into a deep sea of hypnotic altos.

The second track on the EP is titled ‘The Flowing Moon’ and it depicts a colourful tapestry of listless synth lines and atmospheric touches. Well balanced with searing percussion and a strong rolling groove, this track has a sense of moon kissed melancholy. It possesses a powerful presence and fluctuates with an abstract beauty that captures your attention to the very last beat.

Adriatique’s new label Siamese returns with its second offering, the debut EP from electronic live duo Stereocalypse.

Title track ‘Lace Star’ is a subtle yet hypnotic record. Sterocalypse utilise the full duration of the track to add layers to an ever evolving soundscape, with a guitar, echoing synths and a subtle bassline coming together towards the track’s climax. 

It’s followed by the humorously titled ‘Not A B Side’, an atmospheric cut with a fusion of percussive and electronic elements giving it an exotic feel. The EP rounds off with ‘Shandy’s Eagle’; showing a little more of the duo’s experimental side, its trippy synth layers and soft bassline make for an ideal way to round off this eclectic EP. 

Stereocalypse aim to combine experience and instinct, analog feeling and modern textures in their boundary-free work. A completely new project from two experienced producers, the ‘Lace Star’ EP is a statement of intent from the duo.

German based Hannes Bieger has been a No.1 selling artist on Beatport whose melodic tracks have been released on labels such as John Digweed's Bedrock and Steve Bug's Poker Flat.

Hannes Bieger's new release is forthcoming on Davide Squillace's label This And That Lab, and the EP also features remixes by Rodriguez Jr. and Alfa Romero.

Rodriguez Jr. is a French artist who's in constant demand playing in clubs all over the world along with releasing on high profile labels such as Anjunadeep, Mobilee and Systematic.

Italian duo Alfa Romero are also of a high pedigree with a back catalogue including a wide selection of labels including tracks and remixes on imprints ranging from SCI+TEC to Akbal Music.

Opening the EP is the original version of 'Tharsis' which begins with an arpeggiated melody of a subdued lead synth that slowly swells with tension underneath swooping pads and fizzing percussion. Melodic house with just the right amount of tech, this track is both epic and hypnotic.

Second is the remix by Rodriguez Jr. whose version draws on the arpeggiated synth from the original so it becomes the main focus of his toughened rework. He also adds his own melody part and builds towards a euphoric breakdown before the kick slams in for a shadowy outro full of twists and turns.

Alfa Romero provide the second remix of Tharsis for track three, but for this version they decide to take a deeper and more ethereal approach leading to an extended breakdown filled with percussive textures. Hauntingly beautiful, this version focuses on atmosphere to build tension.

Finishing the release is 'Elysium' that has ticking percussion over bursts of white noise that cuts through the expansive mix filled with cosmic vibes. Brooding with bass throbs, the unfolding horizon of sound conjures dystopian images, and creates a sonic tapestry perfect for twisting the senses of those on the dance floor.

Martini aka Soul Alchemist started producing techno in 2015. In the same year the artist received an opportunity to work abroad where he played in many venues in China, Philippines and Malaysia, where he got invited to participate in a Mixmag edition and do the warm up for the renowned Malayan name RaySoo (Love International). Still in Malaysia, Soul Alchemist had the opportunity to play at Elysium Hotel, where master duo Hunter/Game played weeks later. After this trip, Martini alongside some of his friends created Tiosam Music, a nucleus composed by producers from Florianopolis and Balneário Camboriú. Musically wise his productions display melancholic melodies, driving basslines, and huge brasses. His sets will vary from progressive house and melodic techno. Soul Alchemist latest releases were featured on Arkhamra and Us and Them and has received big support from østill (Afterlife), SOEL (Afterlife), Erly Tepshi (Black Rose), Paulo Foltz (Prisma), and many more.
