Creative force GIGEE is riding high, cutting through as one of the most exciting fresh producers right now. 2020 alone saw Berlin’s Katermukke imprint eager for her return with her two-tracker ‘Minotaur’, and "Hall of Gods".
The Polish-born, Paris-based producer’s 2019 debut ‘Reborn Pulse’ EP on the imprint put her firmly in the spotlight, charting high in Beatport’s Melodic House & Techno top 100 within days, and singled out for support by Sven Vath. In the last 12 months she also joined Mobilee’s roster with her ‘Lullaby’ EP. A newish name, but long successful, GIGEE honed her skills ghost-writing for other producers before claiming her name and her rightful place in the electronic scene.

Stelios Vassiloudis is a multifaceted composer, producer and DJ hailing from Athens, Greece. Active in the electronic music since the early 2000s, he has cultivated a sound of his own - one that reflects his rich and diverse musical background, transcending the dance floor via an emotional narrative of complex soundscapes, intricate harmonies and hypnotic rhythms. Classically trained, with a Bachelor’s degree in acoustical engineering and a Master’s degree in composition and arrangement, Stelios carved his path in electronic music by traversing the globe as a DJ and live performer - performing at i ntimate underground clubs in Beirut, festivals in Miami, afterhours in Tokyo, beaches in Goa and mega clubs in Argentina. His studio prowess and coveted productions cemented his reputation as a versatile and acclaimed artist, as he developed a formidable discography on esteemed labels such as Bedrock, Poker Flat, Ovum, Constant Sound, Darkroom Dubs and Balance, among others. Now, entering a new phase of his career, Stelios prepares to unveil his sophomore album, a collection of works that marks a departure from the narrow confines of clubmusic and represents the essence of what he’s all about – an album that mergesthe limitless possibilities of electronic music, his formidable training in composition and his diverse influences. Ten years on from the release of his debut LP, his detail oriented offerings remain incomprehensibly thought-provoking and thorough. Both emotive and technically astute, the creative intuition packed into All Else Fails is almost difficult to fathom - a balanced compilation of grand compositions, paired with subtle, nuanced pieces that is set to engage and entice audiences across an altogether broader spectrum. LUMERTZ is a Brazilian/ Italian DJ and producer currently based in Australia. His music style is built on top of classic Detroit and Berlin techno. With presentations couched by intense feelings, LUMERTZ guides the dance floor in a hypnotic trip full of looped and acid sounds.

In his short time living in Australia, LUMERTZ already shared the stage with some of the finest local names, such as Hoten, Ludovic, Nick Reverse and more. LUMERTZ started to release his own songs and remixes in 2021, which have been supported worldwide for names like Juliet Fox, Tessuto, Nineteen Sines and more. His first release, 'Projection', came through WeLove Recordings (Australia) and later in the same year 'Nostalgic Frequencies' was released at AllFriends Records (Australia). In 2022 he started the year by releasing two remixes: 'Wave' from the Brazilian artist NINETEEN SINES at NODATA Records (Brazil) and 'Town Hall Massacre' from the Argentinian Mëi at Beats HD (Portugal).

He is also resident DJ of Sentando a Lenha (SAL), Brazilian collective that has been developing parties around the world in countries like Brazil, Uruguay, Italy and Australia. By the end of 2021, LUMERTZ released a live stream, though the Australian label WeLove in their relief series during the last lockdown in Australia and in the beginning of 2022 another one through the Brazilian collective VENENO.

Took the last few days to piece back together the set from The Brooklyn Mirage recently, opening for Sasha and Digweed for what ended up being a Twilo reunion on so many levels, with much of the old crew from those days in the late 90s making the trek for what was a special show from start to finish.  The somewhat older, more diverse crowd came early and stayed until closing, with top notch production from the Avant Gardner/Brooklyn Mirage, incredible KV2 sound and just smiles all around throughout the night.  Many thanks to all those involved and to those that considered myself at the top of the list for warming up the night.

Being asked to provide an online three and a half hour mix of music is an amazing opportunity to really tell a story, to go places you perhaps don’t often get to go as a DJ and explore a merging of genres that you perhaps seldom get to do (especially not in a club environment). As we all know, 2020 has been a psychologically challenging year and I have not been immune. When I started to conceptualise this mix, my mind was quite far removed from any visions of a smoke-filled venue or sun-drenched festival and was, perhaps more particularly, in a reasonably difficult headspace. The music I was drawn to, that I felt reflected where I was at is included in this mix. This is not a 'traditional style' of DJ mix and it’s most certainly more of a ’slow-burn’ style as some would say, sometimes taking its time to absorb the scenery and taking a few detours along the way. I do hope people listen to this with a patient, open mind and can connect to the aural stories that are told here- the sadness, uncertainty, hope, contemplation and ultimately, the human connection and joy. In parts, I’ve attempted to juxtapose different layers, join some interesting dots and create something beautiful for everyone.
Thank you so much to the Flow folks for asking me to contribute to this excellent series and I hope we can all reflect on 2020, take the gratitude and whatever else we have individually learnt from these circumstances and be the best we can be in 2021. x
