The 112th edition of Juicebox Radio welcomes Dinusha Ranasinghe - better known as Echo Daft from Sri Lanka. Born and living in Colombo, Echo Daft's voyage in music had already started in his childhood, familiarizing himself with several instruments and experimenting synths at 12 years of age. With splendid music having signed on Hernan Cattaneo's 'Sudbeat', Guy Mantzur's 'Plattenbank', Mango's 'Mango Alley' and many more, Echo Daft has also had the privilege of sharing the stage with Dmitry Molosh, Kasper Koman, Stereo Underground among others. Dubai-based Subandrio is, in musical terms, considered a very safe pair of hands. His career began back the late 90s when Progressive House reigned supreme. Now with a Frisky Radio show - Global Mission - and a DJ diary bursting at the seams, Subandrio makes his Sudbeat debut with four exceptionally crafted tracks. 

‘Fugue State of Mind’ is a masterpiece of subtle, mindful power. Sonics and FX dance with abandon on the skippy percussive backbone of this track as the signature motifs rise and fall along with the tension and release.
‘Rain of Drums’ hacks back to the glory days of prog with low end sweeps, bleepy rhythmic arps and a satisfyingly groovy bass line. 
‘Rewired’ picks up the pace with a plucked bass taking the lead ably assisted by strong sound design and some well chosen samples. 
Rounding out the pack is ‘Celestial Being’. Tribal rhythms and FX lead the way making space for echoed arps a huge bowel shaking bassline and oodles of feel good factor.

Music beckoned this Sri Lankan from a very young age. Being captivated by the unique variations, styles and emotions that lived at the heart of every genre, many days in his teens, he would find himself listening to movie scores, lost in their stories, yearning to tell his own.

Here’s that story so far:
Fuelled by his life-long passion for the art of music, fresh out of high school, Dimuth was on a musical quest. Dimuth was completely enthralled with the newly discovered electronic music universe, and found himself using every sparse moment exploring the ins and outs of different electronic music genres to find the sound that characterized himself, which ultimately paved the way for his career as an electronic music DJ.

Very soon he soon found himself transfixing crowds with his Groovy, Progressive House sets and was quick to gain popularity on the decks with his energetic and versatile performances across the island at many clubs, festivals and parties, setting the stage for the likes of Roger Martinez, Khen, UNER, and playing alongside heavyweights such as Nick Warren, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Sahar Z, Jeremey Olander, Cid Inc., Fehrplay, Third Son and Alex Kenji among many others.

In the meantime, behind the scenes Dimuth was setting the foundation for what would be the game changer of his career. Carefully crafting his own unique blend of emotionally uplifting Trance, Progressive House, and Tech grooves, it was only a matter of time before he started getting noticed by colossal record labels such as Hope Recordings, Balkan Connection, Movement Recordings, Particles and more. Was also featured on Max Graham’s ‘Cycles 8’, released on Black Hole Recordings and recognized as Sri Lanka’s Best DJ/Producer at the Yes Home-Grown Awards 2017.

With massive support from the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Cid Inc, Markus Schulz, Gai Barone, John 00 Fleming, Marcelo Vasami to name a few, Dimuth’s music has been captivating listeners all around the world at the biggest festivals from Woodstock Bloemendaal (Netherlands), Warung (Brazil), CODA (Canada), Loveland (Amsterdam), Sziget (Hungary), to numerous other international clubs and has reached Beatport’s Top 100 Progressive House Charts many a time.

Outside of the studio, Dimuth has been working towards growing the Sri Lankan Electronic Music industry as a co-founder of ‘THE BLUEPRINT.’ - launched with the aim of bringing electronic music enthusiasts together and building a platform for young and upcoming talent in Sri Lanka. You are sure to keep hearing whispers of this upcoming prodigy in arenas around the world in the time to come. And so, the story continues...
