URSLLP002 I Zebra Centauri - True Story

Touch Of Class Records introduced a new label artist, South of Chihuahua, at their annual “Midnight In Tulum” event in Mexico this year. So what the hell is South of Chihuahua? Is it a sun-drenched tropical locale? A wry euphemism for things better left unsaid? Or is it just a four-legged creature with a bad attitude? ¡No, no, no, amigos! South of Chihuahua is not a what or a where, it’s a whodunnit: the hired guns are a couple of compadres from Texas and California with studio chops and DJ savvy to spare. The victim is the dance floor and, excuse us for noticing, but you seem to be standing squarely on it. Just as mysterious as there name is there sound.
 
The TOCR family wants to share with you an early Valentines Day FREE unreleased remix of PillowTalk’s “Lullaby” off the upcoming album, “Je Nes Sais Quoi” coming out on March 17th on Wolf + Lamb. South Of Chihuahua delivers an epic “Dub Mix” that strips down the original and gives the song the vibe of a endless soundtrack to Alice In Wonderland on psychedelics. The remix latches on to the chords structure and melody, creating a dubbed out version geared for the early-morning dance floor.

Nine months after releasing Acuds Verbrennungsmotor Ep, we are not done with it yet. We found five wonderful artists to get everything out of the engine, which resulted in this new Remix EP. The title track, produced by ACUD and BEATMÖRTELZ, is here new interpreted in an impressive way by the downtempo specialists ARUTANI and O/Y, by RODION (ALIEN ALIEN), which is known for his massive Nu-Disco Skills, and finally, in a faster version, by AIO. Further LUKAS ENDHARDT gives the poetic track FLIEGEPETER a new look. The original version by ACUD will be published also in a radio version.

Breaking Dawn marks the 13th EP set for release on Heimlich Musik, with two original cuts tailor-made for the Viennese imprint by the legend that is Kalipo and remix contributions by no one less than Lauer, MontCosmik and Javier Busto.

Combining the rough, pumping sound aesthetics of Italo Disco and Electro Clash with Slow House and Downbeat elements, Kalipo delivers two dark and slow tunes uniting influences of his first steps as a producer with his experiences during the last years.

With a slight change in key, Frankfurt-based Lauer transforms Breaking Dawn into one of the uplifting bangers he's known for around the world, with an almost Depeche Mode-like sound design.

MontCosmik’s interpretation of ""Breaking Dawn"" is based on a mighty bass line to bring back an old-school vibe, supported by some nice arpeggiator lines and energetic drum elements.

Rounding up the EP as a whole, Madrid's Javier Busto creates explosive moments with the potential of letting a whole dance floor escalate, thanks to gritty electric guitar sounds with a lot of Rock ’n Roll attitude.

For the past ten years now, I’ve celebrated my birthdays by inviting all my favorite cats to play – we started off at Kater Holzig before moving to our home at Kater Blau in 2015. For the first time since it started, and for obvious reasons, 43 Katzen tanzen auf’m Tisch won’t be happening, on what would have been the tenth anniversary of the series.

I’ve been wondering for a while now how I can make up for the missed year - streams already feel a bit outdated, and you just can’t imagine the vibe of the event without actually being there, getting beautifully lost in those days and nights, hugging old friends and making new ones. You can’t even explain that feeling, so you definitely can’t live-stream it.
Instead, this year 43 Katzen tanzen auf’m Tisch will be a compilation of some of the amazing artists from the past ten years, and even some of the new faces I would have booked this year. In a way, it’s the perfect souvenir of all the nights we’ve had so far, and an idea of what to look forward to in all the nights to come at Kater Blau somewhere in the future.

The compilation will be split into two sections: Heinz Hopper and Acidbogen, reflecting the two floors of Kater Blau, each with their own special flavor and sound. The whole record is programmed the way I would schedule the artists across the two floors for my birthday, warming up at the start before things start getting more intense later on. I guess you could say it’s a concept album, in which the audience wanders into our lovely little circus on the river Spree, and experiences one of my birthdays from start to finish, split across both floors of Kater Blau.

Much like my parties and my sets, the idea is for the listener to get lost in these tracks and to experience them as a whole piece. At the end of it all you leave with a feeling that maybe, just maybe, cats & music were the answers after all. Even in times like these.
