6  My God, my soul's cast down in me;
         thee therefore mind I will
      From Jordan's land, the Hermonites,
         and ev'n from Mizar hill.

   7  At the noise of thy water-spouts
         deep unto deep doth call;
      Thy breaking waves pass over me,
         yea, and thy billows all.

   8  His loving-kindness yet the Lord
         command will in the day,
      is song's with me by night; to God,
         by whom I live, I'll pray:

   9  And I will say to God my rock,
         Why me forgett'st thou so?
      Why, for my foes' oppression,
         thus mourning do I go?

  10  'Tis as a sword within my bones,
         when my foes me upbraid;
      Ev'n when by them, Where is thy God?
         'tis daily to me said.
 
 11  O why art thou cast down, my soul?
         why, thus with grief oppresed,
      Art thou disquieted in me?
         in God still hope and rest:

2 Like a vine with fruit abounding, in your house your wife is found,

3 See, the man who fears the LORD, he will indeed like this be blessed.
May the LORD from out of Zion cause you to be truly blessed!
4 May you see Jerus’lem prosper all your days till life will cease!
May you see your children’s children! On all Israel be peace!

       the tribes of God go thither:

    To Isr'el's testimony, there
       to God's name thanks to pay.
 5  For thrones of judgment, ev'n the thrones
       of David's house, there stay.

 6  Pray that Jerusalem may have
       peace and felicity:
    Let them that love thee and thy peace
       have still prosperity.

 7  Therefore I wish that peace may still
       within thy walls remain,
    And ever may thy palaces
       prosperity retain.

 8  Now, for my friends' and brethren's sakes,
       Peace be in thee, I'll say.
 9  And for the house of God our Lord,
       I'll seek thy good alway.
