A most unique and essential voice to be heard in today’s techno scene, Denise Rabe masters like no other the art of building up the highest intensity and most daringly immersive shadow play when she takes over the decks. True to that idiomatic style of hers, the present mix finds Rabe ushering us into a chiselled fractal of echo chamber delays, racing grooves knocked askew and sub-oceanic radar signals looped over until complete disintegration. Back in June we welcomed Takaaki for his second On the 5th Day appearance and it was another incredible experience! The energy he created was off the scale and we were left gagging for more, wholeheartedly wishing we could turn back time and re-live it all.

Well, because he’s a legend, he’s given us the go ahead to share his set recorded live on the night, so reliving it is entirely possible.

Boom! The 62nd addition to our podcast stream and another gem we’re immensely proud of. Thank you, Takaaki!

Even if this would have been a very long distance trip, we would not have hesitated to invite highly skilled Japanese techno pioneer Takaaki Itoh to play in Leipzig at one of our regular Connwax nights in Institut für Zukunft. Okay, he would have kown the way to LE since he visited IFZ already in 2016 and 2018.

Well, the year 2020 planned something different for all of us. In the meantime, during our last internal Connwax meeting, we decided to ask Takaaki if he would like to contribute to our young but incredibly good Connwax Selected Series.

For our Connwax Selected #11, Takaaki Itoh who already released on labels such as Mord, Modularz, Warm up and his own imprint Wols is providing us with well selected, ace and highly effective stealth techno (like Hardwax is sayin'...).

Paula Koski has carved out a niche for herself with a multifaceted sound that ranges from ambient to experimental to richly layered, hypnotic and mental techno. Finland-born but Berlin-based Paula projects her sense of aesthetics and composition into non-verbal tensional sound creations, that are always emblazoned with a clear common thread. 

The past months Paula has been shifting her focus on the more driving style of techno, with the peak time dance floors on her mind. Paula is a resident artist and musical curator of techno collective, festival and event series @monument-podcast, and this position gives her a kaleidoscopic perspective on contemporary techno.
