Producer, guitarist and vocalist Conor Hughes releases his new single ‘23’. The first of a new collection of tracks to drop throughout 2021. 

Born in Bristol, Conor Hughes has been developing his distinctive sound since the age of 13. Raised in pubs run by his family, Conor grew up listening to Jazz and Blues; Citing Led Zeppelin, Miles Davis and Wes Montgomery as major influences and primarily identifies as a Jazz Guitarist. The distinct vocals, added to this, make Conor a versatile and exciting new-comer onto London’s burgeoning Neo-Soul scene.

After a fleeting move to London in early 2020, Conor was forced back to his home town along with nearly every other self-employed musician last year. Returning to his attic-studio, Conor wrote, produced and self-released a debut eponymous EP before setting to work on a new selection of tracks - the first of which lands today. 

“23 was written about being jealous in a relationship and not feeling reassured by anything. It was heavily shaped by Neo-Soul tracks like Brown Sugar (D’Angelo) and Soul Sista (Bilal), I also took musical influence from some currents such as Tom Misch, Anderson .Paak and Terrace Martin.” says Conor.

2020 saw Conor only release a handful of tracks; however, this year he’s already been in the studio with Joe Hertz (Barney Artist, Collard, Sam Wills, Pip Millett) and Naughty Alice, with further collaborations in the pipeline with Tilly Valentine and edbl (Carrie Baxter, Carmody,  Ady Suleiman).

23 is a bold new statement from an artist that is destined to catch the attention of many in 2021.
