'Galore' from @oklou93 has been an earworm of a project that has been on regular rotation for me since she dropped it in 2020- I've always wanted to try my hand at remixing something but could never come up with an idea when she first put the stems out but a week ago I got super inspired by music for the first time in a while and this came out of it!

This set is designed to start playing exactly 72 minutes before sunrise for a more enjoyable experience.

At the outdoor raves they host, the sunrise holds profound significance, becoming something akin to a ritual. The passage of time awakens an awareness of the soul, and the sunrise offers the most direct way to experience it. In the darkness of night, this sense of spirituality is often absent, but the sunrise reawakens it, calling it back into the empty body. This set is crafted to support that experience, and they themselves have been profoundly touched by it many times. This is the essence of みんなのきもち Minna-no-kimochi.

Evangelists of Eastern Non-corporeal Trance sent from the land of the rising sun. Founded in Tokyo in 2021 as a rave crew, this sect has experimental roots in ambient music and deconstructed club music that has emerged across Asia in recent years. Building on these roots, they deconstruct corporeal club music through their unique interpretation, striving to achieve spiritual elevation. They hold raves irregularly at coastal areas, ruins, and warehouses around Tokyo. They also operate an independent, private network on a certain chat app for community-based activities. As a DJ unit, they actively tour worldwide, performing in Asia and Europe. Their label project, "Mizuha 罔象 (@mizuha-cc)" focuses exclusively on the spiritual aspect, gathering innovative works from around the world.

Why do certain sounds cultivate a cult following? Simply put, it's often because they resist easy consumption. PLO Man and his imprint Acting Press lean into this. 

Searching for the Berlin-based DJ and producer, you won’t find much online presence, interviews or conventional PR. What you will find, if you look hard enough, is a catalogue of records and mixes with a kind of tape hiss charm (a spiritual successor to Basic Channel and Chain Reaction, but scuzzier and lighter on its feet).

Founded in 2015, Acting Press once seemed to belong to the short-lived "outsider house" trend, but is now synonymous with a certain strain of modern minimal, one that is analogue, spacious and pointedly opaque. PLO Man's output is equally sparse by design: this week, he joins the RA Podcast with a characteristically elusive style, accompanying the near two-hour mix is a one-answer Q&A that gives almost nothing away.

Stripped-back, ever-so-slightly sleazy and coated in dust, PLO Man's RA Podcast continues that lineage in style. Opening with the featherlight microhouse of Margaret Dygas, RA.988 unfolds into a carefully curated spectrum of minimal, dub and deep techno. Among familiar names—look out for the blinding Rhythm & Sound and Moodymann blend—are deep cuts and left turns alongside the odd outlier, like lovers' rock pioneer Gregory Isaacs.

Like the best of his forebears, PLO Man wants RA.988 to take time for you to settle in. But once you do, you won’t want to leave.

I had the pleasure of meeting Juan Atkins, The Originator of Detroit Techno and Metroplex boss for an interview for Bodytonic prior to his Subject/RBMA gig with Gerry Read at The Twisted Pepper in Dublin on 27/4/13

Some interesting words spoken here by a true veteran, still on the cutting edge at the age of 50. Impressive is an understatement.

The album - made up of 8 sequences, which seamlessly blend the styles of both masters - was recorded at the beginning of 2013 over various studio sessions in Berlin and will be released as a series of three 12"s and a CD album. "Mars Garden" is a first preview, available on streaming only. 

Together with a live show being debuted this coming weekend at MUTEK festival - the record gives common voice to two independent yet mutually supporting musical journeys, achieving a singular expression of club-orientated electronic music and the freedom of organic musical experimentation.
