The latest edition of our free download series welcomes Emi Galvan for his first appearance. Argentinean DJ and producer Emi Galvin has consistently defied expectations throughout his much-lauded decade-long career. Through the success of early tracks like 2016's ‘Taking Over’ and ‘Universe’, the Buenos Aires resident emerged into one of the progressive scene’s most promising talents. A rich musical background with time spent in rock bands playing guitar and singing gave Emi’s electronic compositions a measurable creative edge. This elusive sound did not go unnoticed as he quickly earned the praise of genre tastemakers Cid Inc, Eelke Kleijn, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren; while landing career defining releases via Balance, Sudbeat and The Soundgarden. Also an accomplished DJ, Emi’s long undulating sets have been applauded for their impeccable track selection and exquisite programming. As one of Argentina’s most in demand DJs, Emi has travelled the world, delighting crowds in Egypt, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Romania, Russia, Spain and more. A recent highlight in the Argentine’s sets has been his unofficial remix of Massive Attack’s ‘Girl I Love You.’ Released in 2010 as part of the band’s ‘Heligoland’ album, the song would go on to become one of the LP’s most recognizable tracks, racking up more than ten million plays on Spotify in the process. Emi’s version has seen considerable live play in recent months, with Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sebastien Leger and more all airing the remix across their sets. Henry Saiz & Band just keep on giving and this time they come back with yet another delightful rework of their latest album single Cerulean. Representing a stunning place in the world, that is Tokyo, they now offer a special Japanese version of the track, turning the original in a beautiful more downtempo version with even more moody and melancholic twist and, of course, lyrics in Japanese!
At times spacey and ambient-ish, at times glitchy and beat heavy, this version showcases the emotive brilliance of the piece at its most exposed. This rework offers an array of rich textures in a seamless mix of perfectly sequenced instrumental moodiness, psychedelic warmth and catchy yet relaxing melodies. Its inspiring, musing electronics, monolithically tasteful atmosphere, sublime pacing and weightless innocent vocals equate to a glorious work of musical art. Tomomi's marvelous voice is a perfect match for this style of electronica - breathy and delicate, but never weak.
