Now in its 200th instalment, this Podcast has given voice to a diverse offering of global talents across the musical spectrum, from the democratic rhythms of zeitgeist appropriate techno and house through to more avant-garde synthwork.

This next guest has cast a large shadow over the technosphere, so large in fact, that no introduction could fully encompass the breadth of his achievements. But in brief: Ben Klock is a titan whose formative years were spent playing marathon mixes to the crowds at Berlin’s (then recently opened) Berghain. Off the back of his endurance sets and the club’s success he became a household name whose influence grew to be felt across the world, with a body of work that includes appearances at an exhaustive list of clubs and festivals, a number of hot releases on Ostgut Ton and an equally respected self-run label (Klockworks) to boot. On this second imprint, his own productions have repeatedly seen the light of day, alongside those from the likes of DVS1, Sterac, Stef Mendesidis and younger talents like Temudo and Vil & Cravo. The sound, ubiquitous as it is, will be familiar to anyone involved in the world of electronic music and there’s good reason for that: Klock’s deep and percussive work and ability to pull from a wide range of influences have earmarked him as a unique agent for the techno cause. Atmospheric and delivered with hammering force, Klock’s refined palette for rhythms is as relevant now as ever. We are super excited to bring you Podcast 355 with the boundary-defying British DJ and producer Tommy Four Seven. Tommy has been a respected visionary in the international techno scene for almost two decades.

As accomplished in the studio as he is behind the decks, Tommy has built an extensive discography that's grown in parallel with his touring career. His critically acclaimed debut LP, Primate, imaginatively fused off-kilter rhythms with four-to-the-floor minimalism, while his follow-up album, Veer, excavated even more daring and driving techno-adjacent territory. 

47, Tommy’s own imprint, is responsible for some of the most innovative techno in the scene today. Its recent 2.0 relaunch has cemented his singular stylistic approach; in the last two years, it has showcased up-and-coming artists like Quelza, Tauceti and VSK, who stand for the sleek and sophisticated aesthetic that Tommy threads through his own mixes and productions. 

An authentic and ever-evolving tastemaker, Tommy’s keen curation remains as sharp as ever.

Conscious Slide, or Paul Lau as he is known to his friends and family, is a man born out of time, waiting for his moment.
46 years old with 24 years of clubbing under his belt, he’s seen a lot: having experienced the vibe from many a DJ at clubs and festivals across the world, he’s learnt from the best and seen first-hand what can make or break a dance floor.
Starting his journey into DJing on vinyl, he spent the next few years practicing and learning, which lead him down a Progressive House route for a number of years and which, though he enjoyed this at the time, resulted in his struggle to find his own unique sound in an over-saturated market and one that began to feel stale to him. Rather than getting disheartened and giving up this only inspired him to try harder, with him acknowledging and accepting his deepening yearn for an edgier sound, which is when techno saved his life. Stepping out of the confines of his beloved vinyl and with the ever-expanding new digital frontier provided by the now-accessible internet, he was able to step in to a whole new world of music. And with each new track found, which opened the doors to new artists, new DJs and new labels, things became exciting again.
Skip forward to today and he continues to immerse himself on dance floors both in the UK and internationally, and which provide the impetus for his own DJ sets. Now rocking a full digital set up with Traktor at its heart, 4 deck mixing, running through a Play Differently Model One mixer, he feels alive and he is ready to be heard.
