Spilled Milk is an underground Somers Point hip hop crew that turned into a legendary Jersey Shore bar band in the summer of 1999. Their driving beat, doo-wop-inspired harmonies and wailing horn are similar to the rocking bands that made Somers Point famous in the 60’s and 70’s, but Angelo DeRosa, Teague Alexy and Michael Carter’s days growing up writing rhymes over breakbeats is also an intrinsic part of Spilled Milk’s sound. Spilled Milk's live repertoire of almost all original music was their biggest distinction from every other South Jersey bar band of any era.

Friends was originally released as part of  Spilled Milk’s 1998 lo-fi underground classic Jive Ass Turkey. Thanks to the addition of drummer BJ Capelli and the Spilled Milk band, Friends evolved into a dance-floor-packing anthem at live shows in the summer of 1999. Consider It Correspondence is proud to present Spilled Milk’s 2022 version of Friends.

Farley Field is a protest song calling out Spilled Milk’s hometown of Somers Point, South Jersey for not taking proper care of their basketball courts and playgrounds.

Spilled Milk is an underground Somers Point hip hop crew that turned into a legendary Jersey Shore bar band in the summer of 1999. Angelo DeRosa (vocals), Teague Alexy (vocals, guitar), Michael Carter (vocals, trumpet), BJ Capelli (drums) and Rich Nehmad (bass) packed every venue in the Somers Point vicinity, played to packed houses as invited guests at The Philadelphia Music Conference, CBGB's in New York City and Surf Stadium in Atlantic City. Spilled Milk played its final show to a record breaking hometown crowd on St Patrick’s Day 2000.

Spilled Milk is releasing it's first single in more than a decade. In 1999 Spilled Milk quickly became one of the most successful original bands from the Atlantic City area when they combined the sound of their rappers and a DJ projects in high school with a growing musicianship and slamming rhythm section. Spilled Milk's live show was a tour de force adding muscle and energy to the charm and creativity of their 1998 launchpad album Jive Ass Turkey which was recorded on a four track tape machine. In the Jersey Shore summer of 1999, Spilled Milk played successful shows at CBGB's in New York and the Philadelphia Music Conference, smashed bar sales records at every venue that would have them in their hometown area and stole the show before 3,000 people at Surf Stadium in Atlantic City opening for Smashmouth. The Jersey Shore had a working class voice in the music and poetry of Angelo DeRosa, Teague Alexy and Michael Carter. With the exception of a few sold out Spilled Milk reunion shows, that voice representing the Jersey Shore has been quiet for more than a decade. Until now.

Things change rapidly on the Jersey Shore. Casinos go up and down and change names, businesses come and go trying to make a quick buck in the summer tourist season. But nothing has changed more rapidly than the perception of the Jersey Shore to the outside world thanks to the popular so-called “reality” show of the same name. The Real Jersey Shore (Summertime) is the working class response to the corporate irresponsibility of the TV show. “As if New Jersey didn't have a bad enough reputation already,” says Michael Carter. “You have people who think that the Jersey Shore consists of a bunch of muscle bound, metrosexual morons and tanorexic,classless, promiscuous women. The real Jersey Shore, especially in the Summertime,is so much more than that. We wanted to paint a picture of what it's REALLY like to be in South Jersey in the summer.”


The Real Jersey Shore (Summertime) not only presents reality (as opposed to a reality show) from those who have earned the right to talk about it but the new single also presents Spilled Milk finally capturing the mojo of their live performances on record in a way they were never able to in their heyday. The Real Jersey Shore is a summertime anthem as strong as anything in their catalogue and a much better executed recording. The trash can sounding snare sounds like something on Jive Ass Turkey, the sing along choruses (this song has three choruses!) sound like their live show, Alexy's guitar and production are stellar from years under his belt as a successful touring musician and the deep rooted flows of veteran emcees DeRosa and Carter are clever as you'll find.
