Sigrid Vandepitte is klinisch psycholoog en traumatherapeut met een specialisatie in de behandeling van stress-gerelateerde moeilijkheden en eetstoornissen. Al meer dan 20 jaar helpt ze mensen, die vaak in de schijnwerpers staan, veerkrachtig doorheen hun moeilijkheden. Tomas spreekt met haar over de zin en onzin van diagnoses, over de kwetsbare kanten van de moderne mens en over de rol die kunstbeleving kan hebben in de levenszoektocht waarmee ieder van ons vroeg of laat geconfronteerd raakt.

After the release of the critically acclaimed De Doden Hebben het Goed, Wiegedood didn’t exactly lay it low. Not only did the band tour Europe extensively, they also got together to compose their follow-up album De Doden Hebben het Goed II whilst being in the flow of playing together for numerous nights in a row. The organic feeling of playing the music live certainly found its way into the sound of the band. You can expect everything that was brilliant about the debut album, but more concise, compact, and precise. Over a relative short span of time, Wiegedood certainly developed a sound of its own within the atmospheric black metal lexicon. This sound is extended to the second installment of De Doden Hebben het Goed, but with a fresh and urgent ferociousness added to the mix. February will spawn a monster album. And that’s a promise.

After the release of ‘Dageraad’ in 2014, the band didn’t exactly sit still. They have started to write on a whole new piece, which would crystalize into ‘Het Laatste Licht’. Departing from their post-metal debut, the band has been working on subtler droney and ambient layers of music. Charnia has brought this piece of music as a work in progress on several occasions, perfecting the album every step along the way. The time is finally here to unveil this remarkable piece of music. The music unravels organically, interweaving hauntingly beautiful melodies and soundscapes, aided by the expert musicianship of Jens Debacker (violin) and Innerwoud (double bass). This fragile piece of work, which is reminiscent of the way Godspeed You! Black Emperor or A-Sun Amissa build their music, does not let go of its audience.
