As a graphic designer, I was working on my bigger graphic design project, this time a concept for Warner Bros.' possible new CGI logo. I thought of making a newer, re-orchestrated version of the 1999 fanfare, rather than still using the same 2021 or 1999 fanfares for my concept. This is because I wanted it to look and even sound... more like it's entirely new.

So, I've made my version of WB's 1999 fanfare using GarageBand with Spitfire BBC plug-in and mixing other sounds. I also used an EQ to make the harp sound more strumming, and some horns sound more like it's a score from a Hollywood film.

Made in GarageBand, using:
- Spitfire BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover
- Built-in software instruments (harp)
- EQ
- Audio tracks (with other 1999 fanfare audio, credits to their original creators, to make the fanfare more majestic)

For the first time in my life, I went on a trip to another country under the pretext of directing a big musical project. While I was on the trip, I visited three countries, and in each of them, I wrote one song. The recording and mixing were done on the spot. I made the cover for the release from photos on my iPhone on the plane on the way home.

A bit about the tracks: in Tbilisi (Georgia) I recorded a song using only my friend Stas' bass guitar and sounds of things that were in the same room as the guitar (where I was staying). I recorded vocals on a lapel mic that I used for interviews.

In Antalya (Turkey) I wrote everything inside the computer and recorded airport noise through headphone microphone while making the track. In Beograd (Serbia), I did everything very quickly, and there wasn't much time for music. I used various city sounds that I managed to record. For some reason, it was in Beograd that I had the idea to record something on a nylon guitar, but I couldn't find one and used whatever was available. I recorded the bass part in my friend Lisa's kitchen. It's her husband's guitar, a pretty rare bronco bass. Interestingly, I have exactly the same one at home in St. Petersburg. I had to record the bass without connection, just on a dictaphone, but I even liked it. The lyrics in the track are a voice memo from the hotel. It was just an idea about line form; I didn't think I would use this stupid text anywhere.
