from the bedroom demos - an instrumental melody that I literally envisioned (hence the title). more importantly, this is a work in progress--there's more to it--and has been since I was a teenager.

In My Mind's Eye

from the bedroom demos - based on feeling autumn winds gust up and around me as I walk from my car to the front door

I've since changed the lyrics (effective 2016) but below is what I sang at the time.

lyrics:

speak softly as you travel swiftly and deftly over well-known paths, as you return to your birth place
a celestial destination not found on maps

the tall ones murmur to one another
they say, "were you there to see the eldest topple over? or how the mothers' seeds grew miles from here into able offspring?"

dreams and ethereal beings don't deserve to live in a cage
the moment you look down, they've already flown away
they take flight and take to the skies in magnificent motion with sun-kissed wing tips to be graced by the wind

and that's ok
that's the way it's always been and how it should be

The Wind

I've had the opening lick, and the finger picked riff, of this song in storage for a while (albeit separately) so it's nice to find something to work on again. Actually, the second riff used to be part of an original arrangement for an acoustic cover of a different song, but since I wrote the arrangement, I can do what I please. Anyway... yeah I'm feelin alright about this.
