A fake trumpet played on a keyboard that makes no sound, with ambient wooshy-wooshy that's nothing but an abstract algorithm implemented in Maschine code. 

Despite my Miles Davis fetish this was not inspired by it. The 'devil' in the trumpet is there for those with ears to hear and the word 'tritone' in their own collective unconscious.

Based on field recordings. Intriguingly it turned out that on the very day this track was created, YT's s.o. at the time was, in fact, having with a Thomas without YT knowing, and apparently it was great indeed. She went on to fuck a Swede a year later.

None of the above was known at the time of creation, which gives it an irony that I still find irresistible nine years after the fact.

A friend sent me a long-exposure photo, taken at night from a viaduct crossing over a major highway, which has the lighttrails of the passing cars smearing out the path each car takes.

This is what happened when I sat down to try and capture in sound the vibe radiated by that image.

Miles Davis had this knack for creating these moments out of time and space, that suddenly take over an otherwise mellow-groovy band jam. There is no meter, no melodic or harmonic progression, there's just sound, a cry of despair, of appeal to ... something. Until it dissolves and normal life resumes.

This track is my take on recreating this particular vibe.
