“Points, lines, planes” creates an immersive, composed environment in which various landscapes of sounds and fields of emotions augment each other.

The composition contrasts text-to-speech recordings of wikipedia articles about topics such as anxiety, compassion and friendship with filtered basic waveforms and pink noise. The  electronic sounds contextualise the articles using various trajectories in space, timbre and pitch. Data extracted from spectral analyses of the hallways found at the Zentrum für Kunst und Medien (ZKM) and filtered noise provide the piece's harmonic content. The timbres, the spatialisation and dynamic range of the sounds delineate the piece's flow of tension and release. 

The piece contains parts of a meditation kindly provided by The Counselling Service of the University of Manchester.

The piece is commissioned by the ZKM as part of their Tangible Sounds Festival. The piece has been composed and produced at the ZKM, Karlsruhe, Germany.

Experimented with euclidean rhythms and electronica. All synths and rhythms created in SuperCollider with mixing and mastering done in Reaper.

Narragonien dient im Roman „Das Narrenschiff“ von Sebastian Brant (1494) als Name für ein fiktives Land, in das sich die Besatzung des Narrenschiffs aufmacht. Im gleichnamigen Stück von bücking&kröger machen sich zwei Menschen auf zu neuen Ufern. Das Ziel gewiss, die Hoffnung groß. Bis all dies ins Stocken gerät.

sujets trouvés resembles the sight through a microscope. The reason for this image may primarily not be seen in the size of what is in focus, it is rather the style of focusing and gazing towards an object. sujets trouvés opens up the possibility to turn towards the alien as well as the familiar by observing to bodies and their acting.

Pornographie der Emotionen - Teaser

“Watching lichens grow” is inspired by a photo of a lichens plant of the specis lobaria pulmonaria. The plant appears as a combination of seaweed and a fungus which usually grows on tree trunks. It is very sensitive to changing habitat structures and woodland management.

The composition interjects moments of observation of soundscapes at various degrees of abstraction and rather erratic bursts of impulses. In a way the composition alludes to the struggle between the political-economic changes, demands of daily life and art, creating a spatial labyrinth the listener navigates.

"Music for Guitar, E-Bass and Electronics" explores the sonic potential of the three instruments to create sonic landscapes of various activity. The instruments complement each other in playing style, colour and activity to sonically enrich themselves. This mimics the fullness of an orchestra but using only three sound sources.

"Untitled Music for Uncertainty" deals with the personal experience having left the United Kingdom. As being a foreigner in the UK one felt constantly threatened of being removed from one's home due to the Home Office's behaviour and it's documentation in the media. And Brexit - the planned departure of the UK from the European Union (EU) - excerbated these feelings of being (economically) unwanted and undesirable while at the same time long-term security fell. "Will I lose my home and right to rent?", "Will I lose my right to work and lose my job?", "Where will I go?" are questions relentlessly chasing in one's head.

Constantin Popp, born in Berlin 1980, studied electroacoustic composition at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar with Robin Minard and at the University of Manchester with David Berezan. The German Academic Exchange Agency (DAAD), the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Victor Sayer fund his research at the University of Manchester, UK.

He collaborated, among others, with Andreas Bick, laborgras, Jan Wagner, Johannes Mayr, Robin Minard and Markus Wintersberger, doing works for dance, film, radio and stage. Furthermore commissions were received from "pèlerinages Kunstfest Weimar", the "Deutscher Musikrat" and Swiss Radio DRS2. He worked at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universtity Jena, Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar, the ETH Zürich, CH, and University of Manchester. He has been giving workshops in SuperCollider, live-electronics and electroacoustic composition. Antoni Beksiak (Touring Sounds), David Berezan, Ludger Hennig, laborgras and Hervé Perez have been improvising with him in various places throughout Europe.
