Adepta Editions is pleased to announce the release of AEX-04 | Jon Murphy | Modular Overture, a 12" vinyl EP that explores the depths and textures of modular sound. For this fourth installment in the AEX series, artist Jon Murphy, formerly known as 'Gravy Murphy' or 'Yanni' of 'Cissi & Yanni', presents his work under his own name, marking a new chapter in his musical career.

Modular Overture is a meticulously crafted work built with a Eurorack system, where Murphy creates immersive atmospheres, delving into the experimental realm of raw, analogue synthesis, unafraid to explore abrasive sonic territories. The Westlicht Performer sequencer, along with modules from Noise Engineering and Acidlabs, are key elements in this EP's sonic palette, which is characterized by its dynamism and depth. The release includes four original compositions that invite introspection and movement, exploring diverse emotions and sonic landscapes. In addition, the EP features three remixes by prominent artists in the electronic scene: Serge Geyzel, Cignol, and ΠΕΡΑ ΣΤΑ ΟΡΗ, who bring their own perspectives and styles to Murphy's work, further enriching the sonic experience.

This EP is the last in a series of four releases from Adepta Editions that have featured the collaboration of talented visual artist Vesna Vrdoljak. Her graphic work for Modular Overture complements the sonic proposal with an evocative and contemporary aesthetic, creating a cohesive and captivating audiovisual experience.

Any number of bands cite 60’s Texas psych as an influence, but rarely does a group actually capture what made those bands special. Following their debut EP also on Trouble In Mind, The Night Beats have expanded on the bedroom immediacy of their first recordings to create an LP that perfectly captures and modernizes the hallucinogenic and exhilaratingly demonic aura of bands like The 13th Floor Elevators and Golden Dawn. With blazing guitar work and a razor sharp rhythm section Danny Lee Blackwell and company mutate conventional chords & progressions into a mind-blowing sonic sprawl.
