“This is a heady bass mix with emotional bits at the start and percussive, wavy, heavily distorted dubstep towards the end. It takes a few twists and turns but has an overall air of melancholy and unease. I like the darkness; there is a lot to unpack - why do I feel these emotions when I hear these sounds? What inside me is reflected in this? 

There are elements of horror and suspense, it's cathartic to create soundscapes through mixing and song selection. I can externalise my inner world and deepest unknowns. I hope the music that I play can provoke curiosity and induce deep listening. I like a loftiness, patience, and sense of space that reminds me of the deep sea or the ever-expanding universe, and I hope that translates."

Constructions 064 welcomes Hong Kong born, Eora-based DJ, producer, and promoter, Jungist. 
Known for their "Generalist-specialist" approach to DJing, Jungist’s sonic palette is broad and deep, often finding themselves equally at home spinning chill-out dub in wine bars as laying down tear-out amens in distant industrial lots.

A champion of the rave, Jungist has played in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Hong Kong, and Taiwan and has shared lineups with international heavyweights such as Air Max 97’, Loefah, Goth-Trad, and RSD, to name a few. 

They hold a residency at FBi Radio with their show "Variable Depth Audit," which guides listeners through “bass-wise experiments for the city's comedown needs.”

As a co-founder and curator of Decay Audio, Jungist offers a platform for artists to take on a dark and experimental aesthetic with their events and mix series – boosting the local scene while also taking aim at bolstering international sounds.

With their debut release, “Dark Room,” featured on the Bass Water Freak Out compilation, Jungist has since released on Melbourne-based label Back Pocket Slammers and under the collaborative moniker 'Swungist' with Sydney-based artist Swisherman.
