INTRODUCING THE ENIGMATIC WELLINGTON BASED HIP HOP EMCEE DUO, CONTENT THERAPY.

With an impressive repertoire of tracks boasting powerful and unique lyrics, Content Therapy’s (East Coast’s Rufio James and Wellington’s MC Tree) music addresses the confusions of modern day society, bringing political issues to the forefront and spilling truths that are hard to ignore. The duo utilizes wordplay with meaning and demand critical thinking of the listener with controversial messages.

Upon meeting through a mutual friend early 2015, the pair discovered an immediate musical connection, and found their lyrics and styles matched naturally. Over the following 6 months they developed a tight relationship, producing an even tighter and dynamic mix of solid sounds. Content Therapy presents their listeners with hard-hitting lyrics and raw punch lines, correlating to those that the pair grew up with. The duo drew inspiration from a plethora of different subsections of the hip-hop world. They also draw wider inspiration from listening to a multitude of musical genres, with a particular interest in those communicating strong and meaningful messages.

The pair have joined forces with one of New Zealand’s pioneering bass music producers, The Nomad, collaborating to produce their debut EP, The Hyperchondriac, as well as featuring on The Nomad’s Frontline Battleground single. They have already received praise for their work with this piece, and its response has proved a strong indicator of the success to come for the pair. Together they have created a heavy hitting, raw, and powerful hip-hop sound straight from the basement of The Nomad's studio, to bring back what some say is lost in the hip-hop scene.

Content Therapy have some exciting and highly anticipated plans in store over the next 6 months; they are set to release a single off their debut EP on the 28th of September and will be performing a live showcase of their music at Laundry bar on Cuba Street on Thursday 1st of October. The showcasing will be the debuting their EP and follow on from DJ sets by The Nomad, Antsman (Rhombus) and DJ Shan. A couple of the pair’s tracks will be made available over the following months, before the entire EP is released in March 2016.

Content Therapy is an act not to be missed, pushing the boundaries of controversial hip-hop and unleashing their fresh talent and energy onto their listeners. The solid sounds they have managed to produce in only a few short months together, are an assurance that Content Therapy are set to secure themselves a strong foothold in the New Zealand hip hop scene and beyond.
