Story of the MIXXXXX - Forgotten Vinyls
„When are you going to take the rest of your records with you?“ my dad kept asking me for 18 years (since 2006). As a child growing up in the bavarian countryside I discovered 80s music through my very good friend and dj „Electronic Biets“. His strong passion for all kinds of music, led him to a mix of I-F „live in new york“ from 2001. He passed it on to me when I was 18 years old in 2002. i did not expect that this live recording would change my life forever. This mix was full of perfectly mixed and selected Italo Disco tracks. I found myself listening to the it for half a year, day in day out. I would come home from work, park the car in front or my parents house and listen to the mix in the car till it was finished. This was the level of appreciation I had for this music. By that time, I didn’t know what kind of music it was. It took some time and a lot of research till I found out, that the genre was called Italo Disco. From there on I started buying everything labeled „Italo Disco & 80s“. Luckily, I had a good payed job which made me finance all this random buys from all over europe. So I ended up with lots of records I did not know. All I was looking for, was that special Italo Disco sound, but of course I also came across New Beat, Dark Wave, NDW and all sorts of great music from the 70s and 80s. But back then I had a rather narrow focus, so when I moved to Berlin in 2005, I left all those „Non Italo“ records at my parents house. Finally, last year, I took the time to go through all the records, I left behind in 2005 and rediscovered so many nice tracks. Even some cool 90s techno stuff on 33rpm. I even found records that I bought again later on without knowing that I have them already. So I decided to make a mix with my „forgotten“ records.
Besides that, it was also an interesting challenge to be limited to a smaller amount of records (30-40) to create a mix from. And here you go with Part 1.

Voci din arhiva Radiodifuziunii Române, publicate de Editura Casa Radio. Am căutat în texte şi timbruri vocale un fir narativ, un element comun, chiar dacă aveam de-a face cu stiluri şi ani diferiţi. Atunci când urechea l-a găsit, am păstrat acel fragment – ceea ce înseamnă că, în final aveam o colecţie impresionantă de  fraze, versuri sau amintiri. În esenţă – o bună parte din cultura română. Performance-ul s-a născut din toate aceste întâlniri aduse împreună. Ana Blandiana, Eugen Ionesco, Nina Cassian, George Coşbuc, George Bacovia, Alexandru Phillipide, Henriete Yvonne Stahl, Ion Caraion, Maria Banuş, Mariana Marin, Şerban Foarţă, Mihail Sadoveanu etc etc. Într-un moment în care nu ştim prea sigur spre cine să ne uităm ca reper moral şi artistic, această incursiune în arhiva sonoră a radioului, funcţionează deopotrivă ca aducere aminte, reconstrucţie identitară şi inspiraţie.
