Ah, where to begin with Contribe. Daniel, who is based out of Minneapolis, has been on our radar for quite a while and we are so happy to be able to get him on board with a big vocal single.

He recently debuted on Space Yacht and got the nod from Dirtybird as several of his tracks made it onto Birdfeed. It shows the potential this young gun has, and we certainly did not have any doubts when picking up this production.

For us, 'Gravity High' is all about vibes. What's more, this track shows that putting the groove front and centre is always a good idea, and a bit of constraint allows for the track to breathe. And breathe it does. Daniel's trademark zany one-off synth elements remain, but it's all in service to that thick, featherlight groove. And we for one love it.

Contribe - Gravity High (15/10/2021)

A great track deserves a great remix, and so when we took on Contribe's vocal-heavy track 'Gravity High', we knew it deserved a second interpretation.

Who better to give it a unique treatment than up and comer 96 Vibe (Basement Leak, Club Sweat), who, with his distinctive brand of swingy, percussive House, squeezed the absolute best out of the elements from Contribe's track, making it a worthy companion to the original. 

The result is a six and a half minute stomper that'll make you lose your breath throughout its course and we are very excited to be the ones able to share it with you. Enjoy!

Contribe has come through with an absolute SLAPPER of a record with El Rey! With as many syllables as it has hi-hats, it’s hard to imagine a dance floor this record wouldn’t work on. We can really see it fitting into some 'overly cool European DJ' sets, but work just as well on the shores of Florida with some button up party shirts. No pointing fingers :P 

The flip La Reina, is time to take a deep breathe, find your spot and stick there for the next 5 minutes. Weaving in and out of Amazonian flutes and insects, this gives us all the feels. It’s Summer somewhere in the world, right? 

These two records really capture what Contribe does best, and that’s locking the groove and keeping hold of you. These ones have a long shelf-life!

-How long have you been creating music?

I started playing bass in a punk rock band around 10 years ago, we recorded a few songs in a studio. After a long hiatus, I decided to start writing music again, only this time it was house music.

-What do you use to make your tracks?

My DAW of preference is Ableton, it really helps my style of producing as well as allows me to easily make very unique songs. Outside of the box, I use a Minilogue XD, ever since I first used an analog synth I was hooked, nothing feels better than turning knobs on that thing.  

-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?

I saw Claude for the first time at Bonnaroo 2016. Immediately I was hooked, looked up some Dirtybird artists and realized I had already been listening to some of them.

-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?

There's so many to name! I would say Walker & Royce because all of their songs leave me wondering how the hell they came up with all of their sounds!

-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?

Limitless; but if the magic pills were replaced by coffee. As a good Colombian, I need my daily coffee.

-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?

My first Dirtybird Campout in 2019. Slept in an RV for the first time, made many new friends, and listened to amazing music non-stop for an entire weekend. The highlight of the festival for me was watching Bruno Furlan and DJ Glen absolutely kill their set a couple of hours after I was talking with DJ Glen in the crowd.

-If you could time travel, where and when would you go?

I would definitely travel some centuries to the future and see how Colombia is doing.



-What species of bird best describes you and why?

A penguin! They live in cold weather; I live in Minneapolis. More importantly, they can't fly and fall a lot but they keep ongoing.



-What does Dirtybird mean to you?

At first, Dirtybird was a platform for me to get a lot of amazing music. After following some of the artists for years and going to my first campout, it really became a huge inspiration for me to continue my music-making journey, and having a song come out on this label is a huge dream come true!

Already after the first appearance at our label night we felt the power of his music. 
Phineo is not only an excellent producer who released on labels like Box Of Cats or Medium Rare Recordings, he also runs his own label called Groovement Records. 
Influenced by the style of Drum and Bass and Dubstep, he always brings a unique atmosphere to his productions.
His freshly baked track "I Want You" combines the typical house music style with some tech elements. 
Furthermore, GiddiBangBang and Contribe deliver us two great remixes of "I Want You".
