Control Freak Recordings is a London based label pushing dancefloor-oriented sounds with a focus on leftfield techno and UK bass. They are delighted to announce their second V/A compilation Psycho/Soma - the first of many exciting releases for 2021. 12 tracks to move body & mind, spanning a full spectrum of UK club music.

Kincaid’s experimental style which is inspired by global sounds that belong to no specific genre, is steeped in the history of electronic music whilst sounding fresh and relevant to today’s underground clubbing landscape.

A portion of the label’s profits for this release will be split between three mental health charities: Mind, YoungMinds & Black Minds Matter.

Blurring the lines between UK techno, bass and breakbeat, Out of Sorts present their first release, The Crescent VA. Despite being newcomers on the scene, the Bristol-based label pulls in five artists who are by no means newcomers themselves. Dyslecta teams up with the label after a string of releases this year on Dim Sum, Gated Recordings and Ape-X. Heading up the B-side, Engram is a bouncy, ryhthmic affair packed with intricate percussion, rich sub-bass and vocals that wouldn't go amiss in the heights of the rave era. 
With Dyslecta joining artists Will Hofbauer, An Avrin, Bobo and Farr on this VA, this track sets the pace for the rest of the release. With pre-orders available now ahead of the full limited press release on 21st May, this is a release that isn't set to stick around for long. Bolam is back on Space Dust with the 'Lost In Time' EP, a continuation of the journey started with the widely acclaimed 'Suspended Animation'. Another well-rounded and diverse record dives into the wormhole with ’Moving Lights’, a high-energy affair propelled by filtering resonators and a haunting vocal. ’Ozone’ breaks through the stratosphere of a new world, a huge track with electro-inspired groove, booming kicks and a razor-sharp lead melody, creating a feeling of uncertainty and delirium with swelling pads and arpeggiators.

The B-side begins with the mysterious and epic, genre-defying anthem ’Air Tension’, enticing the listener into the strange new world with a chugging rhythm, tantalising textures and an indescribable melody that keeps you on the line between paranoia and euphoria. ’Bioluminescence’ descends into an alien jungle, with a hypnotic, dreamy, downtempo beat and iridescent synths and chords. Finally, as you lay down in the otherworldly glade, the record wraps up with the ethereal, ambient finisher, ‘2 Parsecs From Home’.

Vief’s next fundraiser compilation, as voted for by the 14 contributors to the release, is raising money for Palestine Solidarity Campaign to aid their work in building public support for an end to atrocities currently taking place in Gaza.

Following the Hamas-led attack on Israel on 7th October 2023, the disproportionate response by the Israeli armed forces and government has led to (at the time of writing):

• At least 31,923 people killed, of which more than 13,000 are children (Al Jazeera)
• The destruction or damage of more than half of Gaza’s homes (360,000 residential units) (Al Jazeera).
• ‘Catastrophic’ levels of hunger for more than 1 million people and an ‘imminent’ famine in northern Gaza (the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification).

On 26th January 2024, the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to take “immediate and effective measures” to protect Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip from the risk of genocide by ensuring sufficient humanitarian assistance and enabling basic services. Amnesty International and Oxfam have accused Israel of defying this ruling.

“Israeli authorities are not only failing to facilitate the international aid effort but are actively hindering it. We believe that Israel is failing to take all measures within its power to prevent genocide.”
