Focusing on an exquisite combination of Disco-influenced Deep House gems and Italo-infused Indie Dance cuts, the London-based label Midnight People has been delivering top-notch material since its birth in 2020. With a mix of acclaimed and established artists plus rising and promising stars, the output of the British imprint is definitely something. And for its forthcoming instalment, Midnight opens its doors to Parallel, a skilled British producer who brought a proper pack of delicious originals to showcase his sonority. On the remix duties, bold and creative Birds injects some Post-Punk, New Wave attitude to deliver a powerful interpretation of “Seven Close Suns”, the title track.

“Thermal readings are very high due to the action of seven close suns. What a strange planet”. 

If you are a vintage anime aficionado as Parallel himself is, you have probably heard about “Ulysses 31”, a 1981 French-Japanese series that adapts the Greek mythology of Odysseus (known as "Ulysses" in Latin) to the 31st century. The EP dives into space and technology themes, incorporating sounds and dialogues from the series, arranged over driving Italo basslines and bouncing hi-hats.

We decided to review the most cosmic piece of the release: The so-called Moon Version of “Seven Close Suns”. Its trippy and atmospheric aura transports us to the universe of “Ulysses 31” and to the rich and ingenious realm of Parallel, who decided to deliver not one, but two interpretations of his own work – something definitely not so usual to see. Kudos!

Hoochie Coochie Papa is the project of DJ and producer Clesley Honorato. Passionate about disco and 80s culture, the artist is enchanted by the cosmic magic of music that synthesizers can create and he even builds some analogs in his spare time.

Restless State Of Mind brings dark and energetic vibes with all the atmosphere that is created with the unique tones of synthesizers that it has. It also has a Ruksby remix that adds even more of an EBM atmosphere to the song. Mientras Danzas comes with a mix of rhythms and cultures. Electronic and dark sounds mixed with Latin and enveloping rhythms and feature a wonderful and energetic remix by Playa Del Karma.

Founded in Uruguay in June 2018 by Imanol Castro (aka Imanol), in 2020 Panko joined the crew as curator. U ́re Guay, is an independent label that releases varied genres from House, Electro, Acid, Techno, and old sounds of Funk, Disco, Afrobeat, and other eclectic rhythms.

He hasn’t looked back since and has continued to smash out golden records for our enjoyment including his excellent ‘Planet Rave’ EP from 2019 and Last years ‘A Lover’s Paradise’.

The genre re-defining chameleons of Hard Ton are back on Schrödinger’s Box with their own brand of style-splitting acid house disco. Bigger is Better, a double EP album has all the depravity and drama you would expect from these disruptors. “Be Somebody” is a proud call to a dirty beat; chin up, chest out and let the claps and hi-hats fly. Flanger effect units are pushed to the max in “Trip To Your Mind”, an acid dripping, falsetto bending banger. Rhythms collide and sweat hits the floor in the body jacking “You Want Me” before the new age rave mantra of “Transcend Your Body” with its steepling synth stabs and 303 barbs. The close, “Girls and Boys,” is inspired by a Brit Pop hit. Beefed-up, muscled-up, this club-ready weapon will bring the house down.
