Episode 1 – It all starts in the home
 
Willard sits down with fellow youth advocate, Leontai Berry, who just a few short years ago was an active gang member literally dodging bullets in South Seattle. After making a decision to change his life, much of which he credits to his now fiancé, Berry now counsels and activates rapid reaction interventions in the City of Burien to help calm potentially deadly situations between rival gangs and as well to assist the re-entry of those who have been recently incarcerated.
 
Berry speaks authentically and poignantly about how his troubles started in his home as a youth. His father has been in prison since he was 18 months old and his relationship with his mother has been strained at best his whole life. Berry points to a lack of parental guidance and oversight as well as other family members and adults in his life introducing him to an illegal and illicit lifestyle at an early age. Berry states that the lack of adult role models predetermined the path that he took. Very honest and important insight as to where some young people get on that wrong path. Parents pay attention!
