Heartland

Born in Congo, raised in the streets of Uganda, Cookie is a multi-instrumentalist producer and vocalist. 

Like so many virtuosi African musicians, his artistry was fine tuned in church, where he played any instrument on request. 

Arriving in Uganda he quickly rose the ranks of instrumentalist, featuring on countless hit tracks. He's collaborated  with local talents like Sauti Sol, Chameleon as well as international superstars like Joss Stone. 

In Lockdown Cookie begun taking production seriously , transforming himself into a producer and musical director for leading artists in the region.

This is not Cookie's first rodeo, having previously released Afrobeats under the moniker Yo Kuki. However, this time, he's consciously liberating himself from any genres or scene, creating a sound all of his own, mixing trap, drill, pop, rock, afrobeats and soul with lyrics rooted in the African experience. 

Taking a lead from Congolese artist Petite Noir, he calls this sound Noir Wave. A new, black, electronic pop-rock.
