29 Speedway announces their second solo release “Hydra” by Japanese experimental electronic musician Yolabmi. A staple of the DIY experimental electronic scene in Tokyo, Yolabmi frequents hubs like FORESTLIMIT, spread, and spazio-rita. “Hydra” diverges from Yolabmi’s earlier body of work that previously explored soft ambient sounds, acoustic textures, and field recordings of wildlife; tracks that feel like they’re straight out of Tsukamoto’s 80s machine-body horror films, heavy with repetition and glitch where sampling creates mechanical conversations.Yolabmi’s grasp on sound design has been central to their creative process and is a through line across their shifting sound. In this 8-track EP, we hear Yolabmi strip away embellishments to focus on using sound design for its percussive and atmospheric capacities. Elements shift, tick, drip, chirp, and groan, building to a dark fugue. “Hydra” is a dizzying ride with an undercurrent of drones and a constellation of sounds that feel like they’re traveling at at the speed of light.

"All tracks on this album were written between 2008 and 2013 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. It was a time of early experimentation with micro-sound and an exploration of different aspects of my musical identity.

«Étude» is an instrumental composition often designed to perfect a particular musical skill. Whilst making these songs I have been discovering and practicing new techniques. Be it mindful glitch-programming, sampling dad’s jazz records, or testing limits of the simplest FL Studio synth 3xOSC. The main goals were pretty much the same every time, to find fresh formulas and unusual patterns for new audio experiences.

Some of the tracks were made before signing to Med School (Searching The Truth, Microfunk, Phantasmagoria). Some were not included in my first three albums for one reason or another (Banana Electro Bebop Jam, I’m Not A Human, Dub Forest, Punk’s Not Dead). Projects for ‘Insight’, ‘Galactic Glider’, ‘Trash Bin Galaxy’ were lost, and so I used the latest found rendered versions here.

Genre-wise this album is quite broad. From ambient and experimental dub to wonky jazzy hip-hop and post dubstep. But, despite the diversity of the material I think it still has a strong identity and tells a complete musical story, from our first minimalist manifesto ‘Microfunk’ and deep leftfield drum & bass rollers, to more experimental twisted and sometimes dark ideas on the B side.

Martin Jenkins, more commonly known as the artist Pye Corner Audio, epitomizes Lapsus' commitment to cutting edge sound experimentation. In 2017, he beguiled the electronic music community by releasing the 'Where Things Are Hollow' EP, on Lapsus Records. Now we are delighted to announce the release of ‘Where Things Are Hollow 2’, consisting of three brand new original cuts and a breath-taking remix from none other than John Talabot.

'Where Things Are Hollow 2' explores a spectral and hypnagogic terrain, establishing an electronic sound that at times invokes Jenkins’ more dance friendly facet -'Self Synchronize', 'Weather The Storm'– while also offering his familiar iridescent dreamlike ambient textures –'Phase B'– that featured prominently on his first EP.

This second EP also includes a remix from John Talabot, unquestionably one of Spain’s most internationally recognised names over the last decade, who exquisitely reimagines 'Resist' -a song from the first EP-, transforming it into a cross between EBM and hypnotic techno.

朝起きて顔洗って着替えてパン食べてコーヒー飲んで、電車に乗って仕事に向かう。電車では座席が空いたら自分の時間。本読んだり、ラジオを聴いたり、音楽聴いたり、音楽作ったり。仕事して、家に帰ってご飯食べてシャワー浴びて、寝る。また朝が来る。休みの日は家族の時間。どこに行く？動物園？水族館？えっ、回転寿司？いいよ、行こう！


自分のせかい、仕事のせかい、家族のせかい。3つのせかいを行き来して生きている。それぞれのせかいは重なり合うことはあまりないけれど、たまに訪れるそんな瞬間は、うれしいような、恥ずかしいような、不思議な気持ちになる。


家族の会話ってすごい。日本語の文法はめちゃくちゃだし、突然別の話題を話出すし、他人が聞いても意味が分からないと思うけど、家族の中では意味が通じて、楽しい時間。


Wake up in the morning, wash my face, change clothes, eat bread, drink coffee, take a train and go to work. On the train my time is when the seat is empty. I read books, listened to radio, listened to music, made music. I work, go home, eat dinner, take a shower, go to bed. Morning comes again. The off day is family time. Where are you going? Zoo? Aquarium? Conveyor belt sushi? Okay, let's go!

My world, Family world, Work world. I always think I'm coming and going through the three worlds. Each of the worlds does not overlap much, but the occasionally overlapping moment becomes a happy, embarrassing, a little strange feeling.

Family conversation is amazing. Japanese grammar is messed up and suddenly speaks another topic. I think that you do not know the meaning even if you listen, but the meaning is familiar within the family, it is a fun time.
