Take Your Turn (Acoustic)

Cooney Thatcher’s “Wishing Well” balances esoteric references to Greek and Norse mythology with tuneful and entrancing atmospherics. Thatcher sings about the neverending cycle of change. 

The moment after you feel freedom, you will begin to perceive the next boundary holding you in. “I left my cage; my cage just grew,” he sings delicately over soft guitar and bowed upright bass (all instruments played by Thatcher). 

The wishing well connects us to the unknown, the unseen, the subconscious. It is our chance to transcend the false hope of singular perfection, and to embrace the endless perfection of the ever changing universe in and around ourselves!

“There’s Still Time” is a meditation on presence of mind, and patience amid a rapidly changing world. We often find ourselves caught up in uncertainty, and end up acting without due consideration. Sometimes, all it takes to settle back into the rhythm is a deep breath, a reflection on the past, and a bit of courage to take the next step.

"Take Your Turn” is the music of the perpetual loss and return of attention. Our focus is something on the fringe of our control. Our memories are deeper than our attention is able to let us sink. 

Maybe this limit defines us as human, but another thing that defines humanity is the pushing of limits. What happens when we bring our attention deeper? Will we find a bottomless ocean of memory, connecting us all? 

In daily life, we often skim the surface. This song is an ode to the dance of dolphins, in and out of the water, in play and in beauty.
