After meeting at CDR and doing the CDR Process together sponsored by PRS for music, EVM128 and James Rudie started to mess about collaborating with Gonzi who they also met through CDR. 

After coining the concept of INPUT together it needed a home. EVM put it to Tony Thorpe at Studio Rockers and the seed was sewn. The concept is simple, Make a beat, pass it on and let someone else add to it. Its about letting go of self and letting the music go somewhere it wouldn't have gone otherwise ... It was a labour of love and took some time with the sending files back and forth until the track felt right. We brought in a bunch of talented musicians, producers, singers and rappers to fulfil the brief. Its about collaborating together, wether that be involvement in the mixing and arrangement process, performing on the track, adding a keys line, percussion, synth, bass, everything was a joint effort. Everyone got on board and we feel we have created something special and unique where you can hear each persons input in the tracks. We love it and hope you will too.

London production hero and DJ Simbad (aka SMBD) joins forces with BBE Music for retrospective album ‘Collections Vol.1’.

Despite having produced a stellar series of remixes for the label over the years, ‘Collections Vol.1’ is Simbad’s debut on BBE as an artist, so he’s brought a few friends along for the ride.
The album features guest vocals from Lulu James, LaAerial, Steelo, Entek, Byron The Aquarius, Rae Rae, Claudia Smith and Miryam Solomon, all deftly framed by Simbad’s distinctive, warm, jazz-infused production.

Although a constant traveller, Simbad’s affinity with the UK, and in particular London, has placed him at the centre of the city’s music scene for many years now; with influences and inspirations flowing in both directions between him and his adopted hometown.

Says Simbad: “I came to London end of the 90’s with my saxophone for a summer and ended up staying. This is the place where my music journey as a DJ & a producer truly began. The culture of this island hit me hard &  deep. And because most of the stuff I’ve done is still unreleased (and I never stop making music where ever I go) I am absolutely delighted to share this collection of tunes featuring some of the most talented singers (and friends for life) that I had the pleasure to work in these last 10-15 years, recorded in my London studio sanctuary throughout the years. And hopefully even the old songs still stand the ground…”

Selectors Assemble bring you this exclusive premiere of "Arboles" taken from the soon to drop self-titled album of the Afro Brunk Band!

Born out of the favelas and samba schools of São Paulo, the Afro Bruk Band Project is a collaboration of singers, poets, musicians, friends and family. Their sound is inspired by Bossa-Nova, Afrobeat, Brasilian / Cuban Yoruba culture and the Broken Beat sound from the UK.

The brainchild of the project is Swiss-based Ruben Estevez, producer and DJ of Bruk Boogie Kru sound system. His aim was to create a live project, to promote musicians, to diffuse their passion out of Brasil and to export Brasilian musical street culture.

[PREMIERE] Afro Bruk Band - Arboles

CoOp Presents was launched in 2018 by IG Culture and Alex Phountzi to create a platform for new bruk talent in London and beyond. The label continues in the spirit of the original West London broken beat movement to support forward-thinking music and artists.
