Having recently re-connected with some of the artists featured on our first releases, we’re now in a position to re-release a 2022 version of Dubbed on Planet Skunk, featuring 8 out of 10 of the original tracks.

This is an edited version of what we said at the time: the dubmission crew return with another compilation, which rolls its way through dubs drawn from across the musical spectrum. In the dub corner, we have modern roots champion, Alpha & Omega; acid dub pioneers, Zion Train; and bass technicians, V-Neck. In the techno corner, we have trance pioneer Doof; sonic terrorists, Quirk; and the eclectic lunacy of Qualia. From the club corner, the exceptionally cunning Lone Stuntman, and from the punk corner, growling mad Stratfordians, Hedonastik.

As with Mashing Up Creation, we managed to get some pretty amazing press feedback: our “red-eyed trawl through modern computer-based emulations of the original Jamaican blueprint” (DJ magazine) featured “ten Tracks of pure hedonastic pleasure” (Kiss FM) “where the bass is mightier than the keyboard and the FX are awesome” (Music Week). While we liked Muzik’s description, “low-end frequency modulations for the post-club comedown”, we loved Weed World’s: they hailed Dubbed on Planet Skunk as “a stoned selection guaranteed to enhance your high”.

Silly Tang, productor Francés - Inglés, nos presenta "Anti Babylon Picó Mix", un set hecho después de ver a Sonido Pancho en Madrid, ciudad en la cual reside. En este trabajo ha querido reunir dos culturas distintas pero que tienen mucho en común, el picó del caribe y el sound system culture de Jamaica. Este mixtape fue hecho únicamente con vinilos, sirenas y efectos de dub para darle un toque vintage y sonidero.

Samy Dib and Jonathan Delachaux have accompanied Poupa Honk for several years during concerts or studio sessions. This collaboration had already given rise to productions like "The Handless Spacewalker" or "Pressure Warning", pieces in which guitar and clarinet dialogue with beats and digital bass. 

With "Golden Lowness", Poupa Honk takes again this same formula and lets speak freely its main influences like Rock-steady, Cumbia or Hip-hop, but never let a style take over, a crossbreeding still reinforced by the influences Rock and Jazz by Samy and Jo. 

During the production of the album, a great place was made improvisation and this approach, associated with the sounds of the electric guitar and the bass clarinet, brings an organic and deeply human side to a music in which the sounds digital devices are willing to put forward just as the treatment "Lo-Fi" of certain sounds. 

There is also an interest for the synthetic and the "cheap" in the work of macro-photography that Poupa Honk realizes for the visuals that accompany his music, a work based on the series and the homogeneity. Homogeneity that is found also in the five titles of "Golden Lowness".

Con "bajeza de oro" Poupa Honk repite esta misma fórmula y permite hablar libremente sobre sus principales influencias tan firme como una roca, cumbia o el hip-hop, pero nunca dejar un estilo de asumir el control, una mezcla reforzada por la influencias Rock y Jazz por Samy y Jo. 

Durante la producción del álbum, se hizo un gran lugar improvisación y este acercamiento, asociado con los sonidos de la guitarra eléctrica y el clarinete bajo, aporta un lado orgánico y profundamente humano a una música en la que los sonidos los dispositivos digitales están dispuestos a presentar al igual que el tratamiento "Lo-Fi" de ciertos sonidos. 

También son de interés para el sintético y "barato" en el trabajo de fotografía macro Honk Poupa lo convierte en música de acompañamiento visual, un trabajo basado en la serie y homogeneidad. Homogeneidad que se encuentra también en los cinco títulos de "Golden Lowness".

DJ and producer Copyflex started Copia Doble Systema in Copenhagen, Denmark 2009, heavily taken by the digital cumbia that fused electronic music and local beats of South America. By slowing down techno and adding cumbia loops, we I really felt at home. The first crew was consisting of Copyflex and danish producer Jens Fokking.

We quickly started to produce and do shows in larger and smaller constellations, sometimes as a trio, and maxing it with an orchestra of 11 people! Now we're doing shows all over the world with different collaborators. Our range of venues goes from squats, block parties and glitzy clubs in Cairo to the Royal Library in Copenhagen. Everybody needs the vikingo cumbia! So far Copia Doble Systema has managed to play countless indoor and outdoor events in Denmark, some of the best ones being the Distortion Festival (Copenhagen), Roskilde Festival Camping Area and R.A.W. shows.  We have also been overseas! Magic moments at the Notting Hill Carnival (London), in Hanoi, Caracas, Stavanger, Malmö, Wales and the Faroese Islands.

Copia Doble Systema is now getting support from major players like Diplo (Mad Decent, Major Lazer), Gilles Peterson (BBC), El Hijo De La Cumbia (Bersa Discos), Dj Sinden (Grizzly, Domino, KissFM), Toy Selektah (Mad Decent), Villa Diamante (ZZK) and Schlachthofbronx (Man Recordings, Disco B) amongst others.

We are also very proud to (have) work(ed) with great artists such as Fauna, El Hijo De La Cumbia, Douster, Dj Mouse, Boody B, El Remolon, Dj Hvad, System, Mo Fire, Doma Tornados, dj/Rupture, MAFFI, Uproot Andy, Schlachthofbronx and many more.
