This version of the song has no loudness war mastering compression. I made it to show fans the difference and how having a large dynamic range makes the music sound clearer, more exiting and just all round better!

Yes - it's much quieter. So use your volume knob and turn it up to the same volume as the album version and play them back to back. Pay particular attention to the drums and percussion, how they thump & punch much harder in this version. Notice the music has so much more space, more air, more clarity in all instruments. You'll hopefully instantly hear the difference! 

Also, this has nothing to do with file size/format compression. It's to do with dynamic audio limiting compression applied at the mastering stage.

Trivia:

Cthulhu is a fictional cosmic entity created by writer H. P. Lovecraft and first introduced in the short story "The Call of Cthulhu", published in the American pulp magazine Weird Tales in 1928.

The short story established the character as a malevolent deity, hibernating within R'lyeh, an underwater city in the South Pacific. The imprisoned Cthulhu is apparently the source of constant subconscious anxiety for all mankind, and is also worshipped both by a number of human cults and by other Lovecraftian monsters. The short story asserts the premise that, while currently trapped, Cthulhu will eventually return, and end life on Earth as we know it.
