Shimmering electronics in the intro rise up out of the ether, kickstarting a track which you know means business. As we navigate the drop, the beats bounce back in full effect, establishing the flavour of the release – mean, moody and in your face. Full on craziness kicks in after this, with cascading effects filling the mix. Nothing’ll prepare you for Pterodactyl, you’ll just have to take flight regardless.

DRD015 comes from Italian Based Producer Akrom .  [ REPOST ]

Marco Reggianini, from Modena (Italy), discovers electronic dance music in the first half of the 2000s, immediately falling in love with Drum and Bass.

Attending DNB parties around Italy, grows in him the desire to express his personality through DJing and production, under the name Moon.

In the period 2006-2009 plays in many gigs around Italy, opening also some major international guests, and has his first track released, "Supercell", on Maztek's label Subculture Music.

In 2010 Moon becomes Akrom, too many producers and DJs around with the name of our earth's satellite, a different name was necessary to stand out.

The next years are spent improving his production skills, and finally in 2014 comes the first international recognition, when his track "Egotopia" ranks 4th in the BHK Samples/Neurofunk Grid contest, only behind big names such as Steelan, Killer Industries and Khronos.

2015 is a breakthrough year: the track "The Circus" is showcased on Xilent and Wreckage Machinery's The Neurosphere Show 018 and also uploaded on Neurofunk Grid Youtube Channel as new talent; later on in the second half of the year his new tracks begin to receive support by major dnb artists, including Mind Vortex, Optiv, Chris.SU, June Miller, Mob Tactics, just to name a few.

With several tracks already signed on big labels and forthcoming in the next months, 2016 is a year in which you'll surely hear Akrom a lot of times.

TR Tactics - Illuminate / Dark Universe

TR Tactics is back with their signature powerful sounds and iconic neuro-sounding drum and bass. Renewing their style the well-known Austrian duo is providing us with two tracks where everything is in place.

Illuminate is a track that either makes you run and run fast or it makes you lose your mind on the dance floor, either way you can’t sit calmly when it is blasting in your ears. The clean riffs and hard-hitting drums make this track the forerunner of neu-neuro, which would be a more popular family to the old neuro sounds. Illuminate juxtaposes the traditional sound design of neuro and a more minimalist build-up that makes it flow unstoppably.

Dark Universe on the other hand –nomen est omen- is more classical in the neurofunk sense, it takes us deep into the void, the non-observable, the mysterious. The drums are massive and the track nicely incorporates some techno vibe. The lengthened notes let the listener lose total control.

I can see Milla Jovovich’s determined face going against zombies, outnumbered… Total Resident Evil vibe.

Splashing onto the Soulvent scene with his debut single Howl back in March, Pete Jolliffe Thomas is back with a beefy offering of seriously diverse tunes. This 4-tracker shows off more of this relatively new producer’s range, with some impressive features to chuck even more weight behind these intelligently composed tunes.

Dubplate Culture sees Leeds veteran Coppa share some pertinent thoughts surrounding test presses and their importance in the genre that we love so dearly. A polite reminder to all that sometimes you should let a dub remain a dub (and stop with the SoundCloud rips!).
